Fluoride Linked to Bone Cancer, Again
April 2009 | NYS Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation

Posted on 05/04/2009 9:31:49 AM PDT by nyscof

New York -- Blood fluoride levels were significantly higher in patients with osteosarcoma than in control groups, according to research published in Biological Trace Element Research (April 2009). Osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer, occurs mostly in children and young adults

Sandhu and colleagues measured serum fluoride levels in three equal groups of age-matched and sex-matched patients. Group one had osteosarcoma; group two had non-osteosarcoma bone tumors; and group three had musculo-skeletal pain. (1)

“Mean serum fluoride concentration was found to be significantly higher in patients with osteosarcoma as compared to the other two groups,” write Randhu’s team. “(T)his report proves a link between raised fluoride levels in serum and osteosarcoma,” they write.

This reinforces a 2006 published Harvard study by Bassin showing a link between water fluoridation and osteosarcoma in young boys. (2)

A 1992 New Jersey Department of Health study shows osteosarcoma rates higher among young males in fluoridated vs. unfluoridated regions of New Jersey. (3)

More studies link fluoride to bone and other cancers but are downplayed or ignored by government officials. (4)(5)

Bone defects similar to bone cancer were detected in fluoridated Newburgh NY children as early as 1955. Newburgh is home of the first human health fluoridation experiment begun in 1945.

According to Christopher Bryson in The Fluoride Deception. “A radiologist, Dr. John Caffey of Columbia University, called the defects ‘striking’ in their ‘similarity’ to bone cancer… and seen more than twice as frequently among boys in Newburgh as among boys in nonfluoridated Kingston [the control city].” (6)

In 2006, the prestigious National Research Council review of fluoride/fluoridation toxicology found a fluoride/bone cancer link plausible.

“If governments truly want to save money, stopping fluoridation is a no-brainer. It would save money, preserve health and teeth,” says attorney Paul Beeber, President, New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation.

In 2005, 11 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) employee unions, representing over 7000 environmental and public health professionals called for a moratorium on fluoridation programs across the country and asked EPA management to recognize fluoride as posing a serious risk of causing cancer in people. (7)

In addition, over 2,430 professionals urge the US Congress to stop fluoridation until Congressional hearings are conducted, citing scientific evidence that fluoridation, long promoted to fight tooth decay, is ineffective and has serious health risks. See statement:

May be cheaper to add the appropriate resin to a home water softener than to keep buying these filters.

Actually, there are many studies linking fluoride to cancer. This is just the latest one. And since ingested fluoride does not reduce tooth decay, according to the CDC, why are we spending millions possibly billions of dollars adding unnecessary fluoride chemicals into the nation’s water supply

“(T)his report proves a link between raised fluoride levels in serum and osteosarcoma,”

Or is it a link between osteosarcoma and raised fluoride levels? Which is the cause, which is the effect?

That one study does not determine which, but an earlier study which showed osteosarcoma tracking with water supply fluoridation suggests that ingested fluoride pushes or enables the cancer.

Since x-rays of children taken in 1955 in the first fluoridation experiment showed bone defects consistent with osteosarcoma that was not found on the x-rays of children in the non-fluoridated control city - before fluoridated toothpaste was sold and before our food supply was fluoride-contaminated, I think all the evidence points to the fact that fluoride may contribute to osteosarcoma and other bone cancers and it’s not the other way around.

Do bottled waters have floride in them? I’m curious now.

Pretty sure "not".....there's been concerned that too many people get all their water in this manner and arent' getting enough flouride.

There is no scientific evidence showing that any person is, or ever was, fluoride deficient. The problem is fluoride overdose with up to 48% of school children sporting dental fluorosis - white spotted, yellow, brown and/or pitted enamel - the outward sign that too much fluoride has been ingested.

however, public health officials and dentists keep putting more of the stuff in our fillings, on our teeth, in our water, in our food supply, etc and tooth decay is still a growing epidemic in the U.S.

there is not much flouride in a normal body to start with, so the total amount found should be an indication if it is outside the normal. calcium, well, you have pounds of it in your body, bones, teeth, and in almost all cells use it for communication. bone cancer messes up the bone, makes the growth go haywire, and that results in an unbalance in calcium in the blood.

I would say that there is a good chance these researchers took that into acount. note that bone cancer victums in flouridated areas would show normal F levels in the blood, if that is the case, then the F in the flouridated water groups blood could be safely assuemd to be fromt eh water supply.

flouride is a very reactive (hence dangerous ) element. it interacts with many body functions, right on down to the cell level, it can rip out needed calcium in bones and cells,

mandated flourination of water should be stopped. the governmnet should not be adding a chemical such as this to all out water, most of which is never drank, all the flouride going to lawns, gardens, showers, clothes washing, there has got to be a better way to dose it to people that agree to this drug.

this is socialism at its worst, mandating this stuff in our water.

if it is any help, Diane Fienstein helped pass a law mandating all california public water supplies to add flourine to it, No choice, Diane knows best.

so even if you want flouride in your water, please dont make me have it, dont make me pay for it either. if you want it, add it on your own.

it really is a “oh my gawd” if you have a bad exposure.

all fun aside, freepers should not be joking about this. what about conservative values and the government forcing this on you. this is socialised medicine, On eof california’s finest democrats passed a law mandating it in all public water supplies.

what a wasteful way to force drug doses on folks. most of my water goes to garden, clothes washing, lawns, showers etc. I would say at most 1% of my water is consumed. so this government mandated drug dose is only 1% utilized.

do not support such a thing that eliminates my choice not to have fouridated water, I am forced to pay for it also, even if i choose the much more expnsive bottled water, I am still paying for the 99% of the flouride that is wasted on my lawn etc...

we should stand aginst this socialised government mandated program. it is wasteful, even if you had 100% of the people in favor of it, it is a wasteful way of despensing a drug

That’s what I thought I had read, altho an internet search indicates that some do have natural or added fluoride.

Not only is fluoride forced on you via the water supply, “they” do it stealthily so as not to allow the populace a chance to oppose it. This is the way it was done in California.

Ignoring the democratic process and discouraging a healthy dialogue, California fluoridationists worked secretly, quickly and dishonestly to pass a 1995 California fluoridation law, according to “The Fluoride Victory,” published in the Journal of the California Dental Association.

California Assemblywoman Jackie Speier, working with the California Dental Association (CDA), sponsored the bill that forced all California water companies, with 10,000 service connections, to add nonessential fluoride chemicals into water supplies to prevent tooth decay, without constituent approval or local governing body discussion or vote.

“To make the most of the element of surprise, it was decided that Speier would wait until the last possible moment to introduce her fluoridation bill,” writes author Joanne Boyd.

“’We pretty much knew we’d catch (the anti-fluoridation faction) by surprise because it wasn’t well known outside of the dental community what was going on,’ said Liz Snow, assistant director of CDA’s Government Relations (lobbying) Office. ‘But we didn’t want to give the other side any more time to mobilize than absolutely necessary,’” writes Boyd.

William Keese, CDA Director of Government Relations, a lobbyist, received many compliments from other lobbyists on the campaign.

“I wouldn’t say we pulled a rabbit out of a hat, but it was a coup. We worked hard at getting prepared and using the element of surprise to our advantage. We moved fast and did it in one year,” Boyd quotes Keese as saying.

Putting flouride in water is socialized medicine.

Sorry, buy I don’t understand the math of that suggestion. The water softening system costs how much? And the salt or whatever costs how much how often? And what resin at what cost how often?

I already have the Berkey, and the cartridges will last us about a year.
