Democracy

TJ Kattermann

On Tuesday September 11 2001 the world was treated to a graphic demonstration of Democracy in action.

A vast overwhelming majority of 266 randomly selected Americans (whose number arguably included some of our best and brightest) in four separate airplanes (call them focus groups if you will) voted by their silent assent to obey the wishes of a small number of lunatics whose intent was contrary to their most vital interests rather than assert their sovereignty as citizens of a representative Republic.

Trained almost from birth not to argue or challenge or resist “the people in charge” they surrendered their lives in a near Ritlinesque stupor as captors executed their plans virtually uninterrupted.

It made them feel safe. It was best not to argue. It was important not to make waves, not to rock the boat, not to cause trouble. Can’t we all just get along?

And so they found themselves literally on a plane ride into the flames of Hell.

On exactly one plane a tiny vocal extremist minority of three people acted forcefully to oppose the leadership of the hijackers who seized power regardless of the consequences to themselves, their fellow passengers or the airline because it was the right thing to do.

They alone managed to keep intact the habits of thought and mind which once defined this nation, proudly, as a nation of Riflemen; a nation of sovereign citizens, self reliant and self sufficient acting in the their own best interest for the common good.

They triumphed and today we call them heroes. Their plane did not hit the intended mark. Thousands of their fellow Americans continue their lives uninterrupted because of this tiny dissident group’s sacrifice.

Welcome to the 21st Century.

There is a direct line from the early 20th Century through the Wilson Administration’s casual extermination of the Constitution through the Roosevelt Administration’s casual embrace of socialism through the Johnson Administration’s casual imposition of Orwellian tyranny through the Clinton Administration’s casually decadent and thoroughly corrupt praemunire and all the other half hearted half baked half steps of intermediate Administrations to the events of Black Tuesday.

Even as the nation reels, stunned from the blows of 9/11, members of the Good Ole Bolshevik Network emerge from their tofu filled back rooms to perpetrate yet more regulatory unconstitutional crimes against the American people. They seek to deepen the burden of taxation and repression through new contrivances of bureaucracy such as The Office of Homeland Security and budget busting appropriation bills.

Enough already. The signposts of the Constitution must mark the path to liberty. The resolution to our current crisis must come from less government not more. The citizens of the United States must relearn the habits of thought and mind, heart and hand that made this country a free Republic, not a Democracy.

We must begin today to distance ourselves from all the clever engines of government that have collectively brought us to this low estate.

The Federal Reserve is unconstitutional. Shut it down.

The Department of Education is unconstitutional. Shut it down.

The FCC is unconstitutional. Shut it down.

The FAA is unconstitutional. Shut it down.

The IRS is unconstitutional. Shut it down.

These and all the similar bureaucracies created over the past century have incorrectly taught Americans they are subjects not citizens. They have collectively removed the power and ability for individuals to think and change the circumstance of their individual surroundings and ultimately induced a passive acquiescence in the face of the most extreme threat.

Never again. The path is clear. The sovereign citizen is the last redoubt of a Constitutional Republic. Let’s roll.

The premise is somewhat inaccurate.
Those on the 4th plane had additional knowledge. Through phone contacts, they knew what had happened to the other 3 planes. They acted based on that information.
Had the passengers in any of the first 3 planes known their eventual destination and fate, they, too, probably would have acted accordingly.

Nothing like twisting recent events to justify your beliefs. But then that's always the sign of a fanatic - the ability to twist facts to justify their beliefs and actions.

In defense of the crews and passengers, they were going on past experiences where the best thing to do was to cooperate and get the plane on the ground somewhere. Once a plane was on the ground, options for resistance increased as did the possibility of police or military could storm the plane. Very few people knew of the FedEx incident since it was not a passenger jet and the Egypt Air flight involved a pilot locking himself in the cockpit alone. At best, some fiction writers have wrote about suicide attacks with jetliners, but most readers can tell the difference between fact and fiction. The Boston flights had no time to realize that the nature of hijackings had changed. The Dulles flight may have had a little, but not much time to grasp the situation. But the Newark flight did have the time to assess the situation and they bravely realized that the new tactic required a different response. That's a pretty darn good adaptation in my book.

Also, I have a problem with people who claim the IRS is unconstitutional. People who take that tact have an amazing ability to ignore the XVIth Amendment and legal history. It's always a sign of incipient fanaticism.

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT POINT

The Stewardess on one flight into the WTC reported a dead business traveler with his throat slit and possibly another stewardess also injured.

Barbara Olsen asked her husband "What she should tell the pilot?"

All the planes were flown in hijack mode for at least twenty minutes.

At what point do a sovereign, self reliant people respond to imminent danger? I agree with the author, we have learned sloppy habits of thought and mind.

Theodore Olsen has since been interviewed to state the War on Terriorism would be modeled on the War on Drugs and the War against the Mafia, two of the most blatant assaults against the Constitution in the 20th Century.

Both extreme failures of the worst kind.

As to the IRS, you are aware, for example, withholding was a temporary measure instituted to win WW II? WW II has been over for 56 years. Best regards,

It must be wonderful to be you. Obviously, you would be able to do better than the passengers on those flights. Did it ever occur to you that the Stewardess had no time to pass on that info? That perhaps the dead businessman was in 1st Class and killed out of sight of most passengers? That many of the men able to resist were farther back in coach and unable to fully see what was happening? That 20 minutes wasn't enough time to fully grasp the situation? That the WTC hijackers may have locked the pilot doors preventing a quick response. A passenger looking out the window would simply believe that they were heading to JFK as they traveled down the Hudson. The first plane merely had to divert over Manhattan at the last minute, leaving no time to grasp what's going on. The second plane had a bit more time but again circling over the Hudson would fit to some extent an approach to Newark. Not much time to gather several people together, then attack, and finally break down the door.

Withholding also became necessary with the higher income tax rates of WWII and the massive drop in unemployment. Vast numbers of people were now paying FIT who'd never done so before. People still didn't trust banks and stocks, so what was the chance that people would put enough money away to pay this new FIT (to them) come next April? Obviously, the Feds needed cash now to fight the war (or they'd have had to wait until April 1943 to collect), but it wasn't the only reason. Temporary or permanent, however, doesn't change the fact that withholding is constitutional, just as is the IRS. Sales taxes and tariffs are paid on the transaction date by the purchaser. So income taxes are also paid on receipt date of your paycheck.

We now see the random sampling of 266 Americans was accurate. Very few have ears to hear or eyes to see.

I guess you will find this article equally disconcerting:

Unlikely. On his worst day Fred is closer to the truth than the modern effete intellectual is on his/her/it's best.

My point exactly. They BROKE THE RULES and USED THEIR cellphones. If the passengers on the other planes had acted as aggressively they too might have been able to alter the outcome.

Best regards,

Exactly, there is no reason to broadcast alternative views of the world to a populace unprepared to understand or accept them. If they choose not to understand the Earth revolves around the sun, then the minority had better just hunker down and deal with it.

Best regards,
