Bewteen being a CAP pilot or a DD on picket duty. I don't know which would have been worse. Those picket DD's were kamikaze magnets.

Good Morning from Japan. Not to say that I don't enjoy all the Foxhole posts, but the Pacific War topics are my favorites.
Just the naval actions during the Guadalcanal campaign could keep you busy for a while. Surface battles at Savo Island(I know you already did that one), Cape Esperance, Naval Battle of Guadalcanal (2 nights), Tassafaronga, and the carrier battles of Eastern Solomons and Santa Cruz.
