Thanks for the ping! Several of us on FR have been referencing this raid on Libya as an example of French obstruction during the 80's. Our F-111 pilots were put in more of harm's way because of the fact they could not use French airspace and had to be refueled several times on the way back to England because of having to go around France.

Glad to see the bombing of the French Embassy was listed because that to me was the highlight of the raid! OOPS! fit that bombing after the French denied use of their airspace!

You guys do a great job this thread -- I always read but seldom post. This raid was something I will never forget. Shame they (Clinton) mothballed the EF-111's -- Great plane!

France has not been a friend to the US for a long time, even in WWII they caused more problems than they were worth for the US and UK.
