Not a stupid question. It's said when people on a Navy ship do their assigned task, with brooms. Blue-water sailors will remember lying in a bunk somewhere, or playing cards or reading a book, and hearing this announcement. Just for nostalgia. BTW stuff on ships ages, and eventually, it doesn't smell good below decks. The Oriskany, a carrier, was still being used against the Viets, and below decks didn't smell good.

CG Rescue update
Just got off the phone with the base, the Intrepid is at K bouy,
the bouy that marks the entrance to the bar.
Sailboat in tow they will be circiling the bouy all night
waiting for the bar to subside so they can cross it.
Man and woman on 55' sailboat safe and sound,
Intrepid crew safe and sound.
Now they just have to ride the waves all night.
Average seas are now approx 20'
Thank You All for your prayers.

"I tend to transpose letters." Transposing letters is allowed. :) I od ti lla eht tmie.
I would hope you are not an accountant however, since transposing numbers would be very bad for the record books.
Take care and good night. See you soon I hope.
To: 68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub
Thanks for the update Tonk. I'm glad everyone is OK.

Bob Dole spoke to a roomful of vets here and I shook his hand.
He was narrating his trip to the former Yugoslavia and I brought up the attempt to snatch the bad guy which was blown by the French.
He said, "Now there's a fella who's done his homework."
He had a special spirit as he described having been stiffed by the big studios in Hollywood that had profited with war movies but would not give a dollar for the WWII Memorial, his personal crusade.
Another disabled vet of that war is our friend the investment banker with a career in the banking houses of Boston and New York, creating portfolios on one lung, without complaint.
The greatest hearts defend our country down through history to today, never complaining, rising to every challenge.
Here's a Christmas card for all our veterans.
God Bless You.
To: PhilDragoo
I love the card. Thanks so much Phil! And thanks for your support of the Foxhole and our country's Vets. God bless you.

That's so funny! These skwerls are bad! They do whatever they can to get into the attic. They chew holes in everything.....wood, tar paper, shingles! They work their way right on through! Nasty little critters! But so cute!
