A tribute to fallen HEROES
from the staff and visitors at FreeRepublic.com, Freedom-USA.net, FreedomUSA.org and Veterans for Constitutional Restoration (VetsCoR)
During the course of this country's history brave men and women have stepped forward from time to time, answering the country's call to fight against would-be tyrants, dictators and despots, and to defend the individual freedom that is our birthright.
Many of these brave men and women have paid the ultimate price.
It is to these brave men and women of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine that we dedicate this page, and to freedom fighters everywhere and everywhen, in the hope that their sacrifice will not have been in vain.
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.
LEST WE FORGET.
With heartfelt thanks to our fallen camrades for their sacrifice.
Please remember the fallen - but not forgotten

Thank you, Neil. I always look forward to your yearly posting of this thread.
BTW, how do I get rid of the box around the image?

[Over the years the meaning of Memorial Day has faded more and more from the public consciousness. From a solemn day of mourning, of remembrance, of honor to our departed loved ones, it has degenerated into a day where only token nods toward our honored dead is given, if at all. Too many people don't even know what the day stands for.
But let's not blame them. The blame belongs to those of us who know what the true meaning is but fail to observe the day, or at best give a weak token nod toward it (because we don't want to appear "odd" or "different" or a "party-pooper"?) The blame belongs to those of us who know the true meaning but do not politely teach others it, pass it down to our children, make it a family tradition. And the blame belongs to those of us who know, and honor the day, but do not support any societal efforts to return "Memorial" back to Memorial Day.]
Let us never forget...and remind Americans about the meaning of this most reverent day.

Please take a couple of minutes from your busy weekend to remember the cost of
YOUR FREEDOM. Your FREEDOM was paid for in the sweat, blood and LIVES of those we honor every Memorial Day. The men and women who fought and died in defiance of tyranny, and who paid the price willingly, so that their decendants would live FREE.
You and I are their decendants, and it is not just our priviledge to honor them on Memorial Day, it is our PROUD DUTY to keep their memory alive. Because as long as just ONE person remembers their name, and their sacrifice, then they are not truly dead.
So, sometime between the barbque and the beer, or between the picnics and the trips to the mall for "Memorial Day Sales" or outings at the beach or park, take just a minute to say "Thank You" to those who will never again be able to enjoy barbque or picnics or beer or outings at the beach or park, or trips to the mall. Their sacrifice must never be forgotten!

Thanks, Neil.
I read every one, and the tears didn't have time to dry.
Most of our heroes don't get a medal to pin on their chest; their reward is knowing they did their duty.
May God bless them and keep them in His loving arms.
