The commandant of the Marine Corps will have five years to stop separating men and women at the service's oldest boot camp, if a new amendment added to the 2020 defense authorization bill survives to ratification.
Rep. Jackie Speier, a California Democrat and chair of the House Armed Services Military Personnel subcommittee, proposed the amendment on Wednesday,
"Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, may not be segregated based on gender," the measure states. "The Commandant of the Marine Corps shall carry out this subsection not later than five years after the date of the enactment of this Act."
All female Marine recruits currently complete their entry-level training at Parris Island. No women attend the Marine Corps' West Coast training depot for new enlistees.
Speier wants that to change, too. The commandant would have eight years to make training fully coed, the proposal states.
The measure was passed by the House Armed Services Committee by a vote of 31 to 26. Next it must be approved by the full House before moving onto the Senate, where it could face opposition from the Republican majority.
Almost every operational role and training course in the military is gender integrated, with the exception of Marine Corps boot camp, Speier said as she introduced the measure.
"Fully integrating women is not only the right thing to do, it makes our military stronger," she said. "The women Marines serving in recently opened combat positions that I have met are immeasurably brave, tough, and inspiring. Each of them have had to prove themselves, over and over again, to male peers and superiors."
That problem can be solved, she said, by having all recruits train together at the start of their Marine Corps careers, regardless of gender.

As long as it is truly equal. Make the women have to pass the same PT fitness standards as the men. If they can do that then let them be a Marine.
But they shouldn’t get any special treatment. Shave their heads and make them carry the same weight as the males. If women can’t cut it with the same standards as the men then let them go.

Having women with me would have made those 13 weeks a lot easier. That's all I'm saying.
A handful of lesbos and ego maniac women are f*ing life up for all women. A 14 year old boy in reasonably fit condition could kick the ass of 99% of the female women in the military. They are excess baggage in a fight unless someone needs a button pushed or some shirts ironed.

The same PT standards applied for both men and women to begin with and then the 'ladies' were cut some slack and the standards for them were lowered during the training cycle. Morale among the men cratered immediately, they were pissed that the girls were getting special treatment!
Of course, the main problem with a coed training and sleeping environment was that putting 18 year old boys and girls together 'surprisingly' led to a lot of sexual encounters and a few pregnancies before the training cycle ended.
We called them WAMs and many were really hot just like some of the WAVEs. Now probably all lesbos, good for nothing at all.
