Wasn't McCain aboard at the time? No,I'm not blaming him...that's about the only thing he *can't* be blamed for.I'm an old Army guy but I gladly give credit to all those brave sailors who fought that fire.And I just as surely salute the ones who perished.

If I recall correctly, McCain was on the Forrestal, sitting in his airplane on the flight deck, when it was hit by a Zuni missile launched inadvertently due to an electrical problem, which set-off the fire.

Not saying it was his fault, just that it started literally under his seat.
