We used to call it carburetor cleaner.

“Pabst is just crap in a bottle.”

I put some in a cellar one time instead of refrigerating it and it was pretty good. That is how it was supposed to be drunk. I tried some a couple of years ago and it just gave me a headache. Of course here in Colorado there’s a craft brewery on every corner so good beer isn’t a problem. Except Coors.

Yeah, because if you’re not paying $5/bottle or more for trendy beers that all taste like throw-up backwash, you’re not hip. Right?!

.. Pabst is just crap in a bottle ..

How witty of you. You should send that one to Lena, they might write it into a 'Girls' episode.

They might write you into one too.

Back in those days, there were no microbrews and imports from Europe were not only prohibitively expensive for most Americans but the storage technology at the time was not the best and many imported beers spoiled along the way.

So it was basically the big brewers that dominated. Anheuser-Busch; Miller; Pabst; Schlitz, ect. Not the best of times to be fussy or a connoisseur with regard to your beer.

In the early 1980s, I was in the Marines and on a field operation in the Mojave Desert. 100+ degree temps and 16-hour days. One night, the officers brought in a portable movie screen and tubs full of cold Budweiser on ice. I forget the movie they showed us but I'll never forget how delicious that Budweiser beer tasted to me.

These days, I'm spoiled and would not drink that swill again.
