ASk him for his DD214 form. It has it all.

If he is using this claim in his job to obtain promotions, etc, simply report it to HR and they can check his DD214.

Does he have any siblings or living relatives? Do a google search and give one a call if he does.

Attack him with a knife and see if he can disarm you.

Ask him what a “line-over” or Mae West” is, and maybe demonstrate a couple of PLFs

Found this:

Official military records are stored at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Information about U.S. service personnel is available to the public under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Getting the information is not difficult. To make a request, all you have to do is download a form and mail or fax it in. Include a cover letter requesting the records under FOIA, and ask for all available releasable information. If the person was never in the military, you'll receive a reply telling you that the center has no record of him or her.

Actually DD214 are exempt from FOIA unless the veteran signs release papers (remember how Kerry never signed the release of his military records?). Here is the info but unless you're the vet or next of kin, you cannot get any info. Just have another vet have a chat with the person, anyone who's ever served will use lingo and abbreviations that only a GI would understand.

If he has been awarded the Silver Star or higher, there are websites which contain the names of all the recipients of those august awards. This includes those service members whose awards were issued for classified activities.

There are also informal groups who relish in investigating these wannabes.

Best of luck, I hope you’re wrong, but there are large number of liars and wannabes out there.

Kind of ask him when he served what his units were his MOS etc.

Down where I am, I know this construction foreman who claims to have flown various piston engined airplanes for the Air Force in V. Nam, but when I learned his age he would have been 16 in 1972, the Paris Peace accords were in 1973 so the math dont add up.

i know a guy like that. short and pudgy with his long hair tied back in a ponytail all the time, when he would talk about being on seal team one in vietnam, i would just roll my eyes and figure “lying”. turns out, i was the one who was wrong, the dude really was leader of seal team one in vietnam.

The guy may also be a Viet Nam Vet and here’s someone at work who simply wants to badmouth him and has invented the story that he’s not.

Ask him “Harmony Church or Sand Hill”

Ask about “the mighty ungawa towers”

Ask what his full MOS was and if he doesn’t end it with “1 Papa” then he is full of it.
Ask if he was a REMF
or ever an FNG.

I hate military posers. Serve or STFU

Well I dont work him and his crew is mostly Mexicans. I am just going on what he told me over time. One night he flew a C-123 the next a C-47 gunship. I figured if I ever caught him on it though he would probably go ballistic.
