Lord,

Keep our Troops forever in Your care

Give them victory over the enemy...

Grant them a safe and swift return...

Bless those who mourn the lost.

Amen.
.

FReepers from the Foxhole join in prayer
for all those serving their country at this time.

...................................................................................... ...........................................

U.S. Military History, Current Events and Veterans Issues

Where Duty, Honor and Country
are acknowledged, affirmed and commemorated.

Our Mission:

The FReeper Foxhole is dedicated to Veterans of our Nation's military forces and to others who are affected in their relationships with Veterans.

In the FReeper Foxhole, Veterans or their family members should feel free to address their specific circumstances or whatever issues concern them in an atmosphere of peace, understanding, brotherhood and support.

The FReeper Foxhole hopes to share with it's readers an open forum where we can learn about and discuss military history, military news and other topics of concern or interest to our readers be they Veteran's, Current Duty or anyone interested in what we have to offer.

If the Foxhole makes someone appreciate, even a little, what others have sacrificed for us, then it has accomplished one of it's missions.

We hope the Foxhole in some small way helps us to remember and honor those who came before us.

Memorial Day 2008

"Changing the date merely to create three-day weekends has undermined the very meaning of the day. No doubt, this has contributed greatly to the general public's nonchalant observance of Memorial Day." -- VFW 2002 Memorial Day address

Memorial Day used to be a solemn day of mourning, a sacred day of remembrance to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms. Businesses closed for the day. Towns held parades honoring the fallen, the parade routes often times ending at a local cemetery, where Memorial Day speeches were given and prayers offered up. People took the time that day to clean and decorate with flowers and flags the graves of those the fell in service to their country.

Unfortunately, when Congress made Memorial day into a mandatory three-day weekend in with the National Holiday Act of 1971 (P.L. 90 - 363), it made it all the easier for us to be distracted from the spirit and meaning of the day.

I wish I had his patience.

I don’t know if you should show the Spiderboy that video. You might come home from work and find the teardrop turned into a dozer :-)

I note from Mr. 6 reminded me I haven't posted a Project Teardrop update in a while.

The roof has been attached. Photobucket

Bittygirl has moved in already.

Photobucket

I have picked fenders finally. Still gotta figure out the attachment method.

Photobucket

We've also built some doors.

Now, it's on to the galley. No, that's not a cup of Darksheare's Coffee on the galley shelf.

Very cool. If that were Darksheare’s coffee you’d have to keep the children away!

It’d be going a bit faster if’n I weren’t slowed down a touch by a cracked rib.

I somehow managed to make it 43 years without ever breaking a bone, so I just HAD to celebrate my birthday my fracturing a rib.

OH NO!!!!!!!!! I'm so sorry to hear that. I feel your pain. I made it to my 40's with no broken bones, then it was 2 in a row.... LOL

Hope you're feeling a bit better. Maybe the ragged edge of jabbing pain is gone - or you have good drugs.

Tell msdrby "hi" if she doesn't see this. I'm still livin' down close to her family's neck o' the woods.

‘mornin ‘neighbor! I have been wrapped up in preparing for my brother’s wedding. Yes... you heard it. He is officially off the market. Nuptials are this coming Sunday at the Crescent Hotel in Dallas. We also have a family reunion next weekend in Granbury. I know (brother) planned it this way on purpose, but it’s a lot of running around! Seriously though, we are all very happy for him. He picked a good one.

Hey! I’m so glad to see you! I finally got internet in the same house where I’m living. I have not been able to keep up with who’s posting or what’s going on.

Congratulations to your brother! I am tickled pink to hear he found somebody nice. Can’t imagine all that work with a wedding and family reunion on the same weekend. We have our annual family reunion this weekend too. It’s a combination of in Morgan and Godley. One place one day the other the next - except I get mixed up on which is which. LOL - I am cleaning house like an obsessive/compulsive person this week cause my mom is coming for the weekend.

Guess it wouldn’t mean much to tell your brother I said those congratulations. He wouldn’t have a clue who that was from. But, you’ve talked about him so much that I feel like I know him and am very happy for him.

So, what are you doing with your life when you aren’t being the wedding planner?

They grow up too fast update.

Msdrby went to the Chinese outlet store (that one from Bentonville) to get some crochet hooks. So she returned with this...

Bittygirl just got her first bike.

Photobucket

Checking out these pedal thingies.

Photobucket

Shakedown cruise.

And away she goes...
