I have "The Burning Mountain: A Novel of the Invasion of Japan" by Alfred Coppel. If you ignore the sub-plot about an American born translator who was raised in Japan as a child and has his "childhood" sweetheart still there it's not a bad read. It does show the fanatic defense that would have been put up by the Japanese military and civilians.
David Westheimer also wrote Von Ryan's Express, Thanks for doing the Amazon gig, I figured that the book was soold as to be out of print.
