A white police officer in North Charleston, South Carolina has been charged with murder after video emerged of him shooting an unarmed black man in the back while he was trying to run away, reports the Charleston Post and Courier. The two had been involved in a scuffle.
The man, 50-year-old Walter Scott, died Saturday after Patrolman 1st Class Michael Slager, 33, shot at him eight times, though it is not immediately clear how many shots hit him. Scott had been stopped for a broken tail light, and he ran from police “because he owed child support,” said his family, according to New York Times reporter Matt Apuzzo.
On Tuesday afternoon, Mayor Keith Summey said that the officer’s “bad decision” had led to his arrest on the charge of murder.

Anyone carrying a firearm under cover of authority of the law, heck any actions of someone in authority should NOT get the benefit of the doubt.
On top of that, this Keystone Kop tried to frame his victim by placing his Taser next to him and claiming that he shot his victim because the victim tried to take his Taser. He is a disgrace to the uniform and should be given either death or life in solitary.
Damn. I was thinking of moving to that area within a year or so, and work for the port there.

make an example outta that POS and publicly execute him right on Main Street. Hang a sign around his neck that reads “THIS is what happens to thug cops.”
Obama’s plan is to
1) Find an outrageous case like this to push
2) Take a broad brush approach and tighten the new screws down until they make law enforcement miserable
3) Stay after law enforcement and discourage them until they quit
4) Brown Shirts
Steroids.
And probably anti-depressants.
I understand, yet I don’t believe he should receive a penalty greater than cop killers......................so life in prison, hell probably get killed within the first year anyway.
That “still pic”, and it’s related story, just confirms lot of people’s distrust of cops.
And, that’s a shame for all of us because cops are absolutely necessary in a stable society.

Yup. The discrepancies between the version of events provided by the officer (and, presumably, the officers who showed up on the scene right after the shooting) and what is shown in the video makes me wonder about what has happened in previous cases that were not caught on video....
On a CBSN video, it clearly shows the victim was still attached to the wires of the taser when he started to run away. Not sure how much a taser can be a threat to an officer's life at that point.
Which is a fair point, actually. While the grand jury was certainly correct in concluding that there was no probable cause to believe the officer committed a crime in Ferguson, there was a lot of conflicting testimony (on all sides) in the Ferguson case, and no conclusive video. I don't think you can say 100% one way or the other whether it was a good or bad shooting, and cases like this are going to make people question Wilson's version of events (and officers' versions of events in other shootings). If the officer in this case lied and planted evidence, and would have gotten away with it absent the video, then of course people are going to suspect other officers, in other cases where there were no videos, of doing the same.
Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, and most of the other sea islands along Highway 17 are fine.

When Channon Christian and Christopher Newsome were horrifically raped, tortured and murdered in Knoxville national news organizations defended not covering it saying it was only a local story.
Will we hear the names of any of the 6 Whites murdered by blacks since this killing? Statistically a White is murdered in the US by a black every 15 hrs.
This is a part of soetoro's "fundamental transformation of America". The narrative must " stay on course" and the msm is more than happy to help out.
Obviously, they seriously don’t want the riots. After they sacrifice him, influential constituents behind their politicians will have them return to business as usual.
