NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. Grover Norquist, the influential conservative who serves as president of Americans for Tax Reform, thinks there are only six Republicans who can win the 2016 Republican nomination for president.
His list, which he told Business Insider in an approximately hour-long interview Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.
"There are only six people who can credibly run start-to-finish, and any of them could conceivably win the presidency," Norquist said.
"And the reason is, each of those people could raise the money to run campaign all the way through. Each of those people has some name ID."
Notably, the list leaves out two prominent CPAC speakers Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Norquist and his group have been highly critical of Cruz in the past, especially in the lead-up to the federal government shutdown last September.
Norquist's list only includes one senator Paul because he has made "savvy" political moves and has more of a name recognition with the general public. In general, Norquist thinks governors have a better chance of running a successful campaign.

Yet they keep showing up as the candidate.
I do like Scott Walker and think he would make a decent president, from what I have seen so far. Any Wisconsin residents out there who can enlighten me?
True, we need to act as a unified force whenever possible. This time, we need more conservative groups to hosts a few debates. And there should be VERY few debates in total.
That's like saying it's going to rain tomorrow or then again it might not.
The constitution gives government very limited power. The GOPe is out of control, in bed with K street (see Trent Lott et al others there) and cannot see outside the Potomac River. We the people fought back in 2010 like Sarah said, dance with the one that brought you. The GOPe LOVED that the IRS targeted TParty / conservatives. THAT’s why it was not and still is not a priority to them.
In the big picture Norquist is trying to be relevant and now many eyes are open to this scam of the GOPe that has many factions. So thanks for posting this. Freepers, spread this to all you know, who care about this country.
Since when did Grover Norquist become the GOP guru?
If you put Walker in the same category as those two you don’t know anything about his record. There are a number of viable conservative candidates available this time and Cruz isn’t even necessarily the best of the lot. It’s a little early to be sneering at fellow conservatives because they prefer someone else, don’t you think?
As the General said in a post yesterday, both political parties are infiltrated by Islamists ...

LOL!
Of all the People on his list; I would say that only Walker might have a chance. I believe the others are just RINOs.
Effe this a-hat along with porky pig Tokyo Rove.
Sounds like a PLAN!
DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson: Illegal Aliens Have Earned the Right to be Citizens
WOW! Sounds just like Gov Walker!
this time Ill write in who I want.
Democrats? No. Independents? No. Republicans? The GOPe would vote for him, but he’d get no conservative support.
Jeb would lose in a landslide even to Biden.

Even if he was running against Hillary? Conservatives would favor Hil over Jeb?
This entire thread is so sad to read, it really is.
I firmly believe that the majority of the most frequent posters on this site would indeed happily vote for Hillary Clinton over ANY republican candidate. Oh, their reason would be the same one given in the last two elections - “the republican candidate just isn’t conservative enough”,therefore in their mind, it’s great to further destroy the country, because, hey, the purity is just not there. Any republican mentioned, and that means ANY republican is immediately attacked here. Not conservative enough! And then you’ll see the posts indicating there is NO difference between that republican and the dem. Really? Do any of you actually believe that? Maybe you do. Sad.
God help us.
I am so sick of Scott Walker getting the Alinsky treatment from conservatives...
