Ron Paul, Republican congressman from Lake Jackson who is running a long-shot bid for president, has filed a bill in the House of Representatives to prevent the proposed Trans-Texas Corridor from receiving federal dollars.
The TTC is a large transportation network championed by Gov. Rick Perry and the Texas Department of Transportation that would carve a wide swath out of central Texas to add highway lanes, rail lines and other infrastructure to major trade routes in the state.
Paul, who represents District 14, has long opposed the concept. Among the goals of the TTC are improving trade between the U.S. and its North American neighbors. Paul, who opposes U.S. membership in the United Nations, has said the TTC is part of a broader effort to form a North American organization that could supplant aspects of U.S. law and policy.
Paul has further stated his opposition to the superhighway being built by private companies, who would control aspects of the corridors and would charge fees for its use.
I am particularly concerned about the use of eminent domain to take private land for the construction of this highway, said Paul, and this bill would prevent the federal government from participating in this heinous practice.
Thus far, planning is under way for two major routes of the corridor: TTC-35 (to run along I-35 in Central Texas) and TTC-69 (to run along the path of the future I-69 along the Gulf Coast).
The corridor proposal has run into much criticism. In January, TxDOT officials travelled the state for a series of town hall meetings, which were intended to foster discussion about the TTC and what state leaders say are its benefits. The meetings, including one in Rosenberg, brought out large numbers of opponents.
Paul's district includes western and northern Fort Bend County, including Simonton, Fulshear and Cinco Ranch. He faces two primary opponents in his District 14 re-election bid, and is a candidate in the Republican presidential primary.
Who cares? That's their problem, not ours.
You really wish to go out on a limb and attempt to convince us that not wanting to send troops to Haiti is the same thing as pulling support for Israel and the rest of Paul’s isolationist diatribe?
You call it pulling support for Israel. I call it not pushing Israel to give up it’s lands and tie its hand when they are attacked like the current adminstration does. Paul would let Israel defend itself anyway it wanted. I call that 100% support, unlike the current administration.
So? What’s that have to do with Ron Paul’s foreign policy bent? Absolutely nothing. Did George Bush say the Korean War was wrong. that Granada was wrong? That we are responsible for terrorism? That we need to go back to the isolationism of the 1800s?
I never said Ron Paul’s foreign policy was perfect but it’s far more in tune with the Republican Party’s HISTORY FOR 150 years than yours.
Paul never blamed the US for terrorism and he’s not a 9/11 truther, so you can kill that noise right now.
Paul would pull financial and military support for Israel. Paul = Kucinich.
So providing that is great if it's attached to pushing Israel to give up it's lands and tying it's hand every time they're attacked or threatened? What planet do you live on?
“”Q: And when you say you would disengage in the Middle East, does that also mean ending our strong military support and alliance with Israel?
Paul: Yeah, but we would still be allies in the sense that we would be friends and trade and travel and talk with them and hopefully help them when they need help, but not militarily. “ - Ron Paul
So you do admit you were wrong and that Ron Paul did wish to pull military support for Israel, right?
Thank You.

Where was I wrong? I never said Ron Paul wouldn’t pull financial and military support. I said Ron Paul wouldn’t encourage Israel to give up it’s lands and wouldn’t tie their hand when they got attacked. Do you just like to make up stuff?
Pointing out that terrorist breed other terrorist by pointing to US troops all over the globe is not the same thing as saying America deserved to be attacked.
No but if you equate the two, it sure as hell makes a better sound bite. =)
Apparently you don't comprehend "unintended consequences."
"Continuing to deny that the attacks against us are related to our overall policy of foreign meddling through many years and many administrations, makes a victory over our enemies nearly impossible" - Ron Paul
Facts are a stubborn thing. I'll let Ron Paul's words speak for themselves. He directly said our foreign meddling is responsible for the attacks. You wish to deny that?
I just love people that don’t mince words. = D
His quote you linked said no such thing. Perhaps you should just let his own words speak for themselves.
"Continuing to deny that the attacks against us are related to our overall policy of foreign meddling through many years and many administrations, makes a victory over our enemies nearly impossible" - Ron Paul
Facts are stubborn things.
Do you, or do you not, believe that putting US troops all over the globe helps encourage Muslims to join terrorist ranks? Now if you don’t believe that it encourages it, you are seriously stupid. If you do, then you can see where Paul is coming from. It’s really that simple.
