Perhaps they are huddled together in despair, knowing that their whole system rests on unprovable assumptions and circular reasoning, to wit, "Fossils usually found in certain geological strata prove that evolution occurred. Evolution has failed the tests of the scientific method. It is neither observable, measurable, nor repeatable.

Seems to me more like "harrass" or "shout down" rather than persecute. The fact that they would leave the crevo threads to continue harrassing was predicted more than once and has indeed come true -- which also is in harmony with the assertion that their [sorry] defense of evolution is secondary to promoting atheism.
