Unemployed FReeper in need of prayer

I don't normally find it necessary to come to you folks personally; I try to keep things to myself. About midday today, I found myself as one of seven or eight hundred people who lost their jobs with Six Continents Hotels, as a part of their corporate restructuring. I've been working on 6C's extranet supporting their 3500 hotels worldwide for the past year.
To add insult to injury, my wife (She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed) and I signed paperwork and paid initial monies toward obtaining a house late last week.
We're praying; we sure could use some "other voices" added to ours...

Admittedly selfish, double-barrelled ping....I apologize if this seems overindulgent, but unfortuantely it is necessary.

Hey there. I am unemployed myself and have been for about 3 months, so I might not be the best "encouraging" voice, but at least I can sympathize. You're on my prayer list! Good luck!

Sorry to hear that, I've always enjoyed your posts.
However, prayers are on the way!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
Unfortunately, earnest money deposited on a house deal can be legally retained.
I hope this situation leads you to a better one. They often do!

JUST DAMN!
You're officially at the top of my prayer list, Michael.
Believe it or not, CNN is hiring regularly...

My prayers for you buddy. You are the kind of guy who is going to bounce back and find work. I have every bit of faith in you. You have the right attitude, the ability to communicate with others, and a hell of a good sense of humor. Go get 'em and keep us posted. I KNOW you'll do well.
To: mhking

You've got ours, too. And judging from the quality of your posts you've got a lot going for you. Hold a good thought.

Prayers going out. It's hard times, but your request is in the right direction. I was laid-off from a large managed health care company in late 2001 (had to endure trying to find a job in the middle of the post-9/11 environment when people were distracted from such things as filling jobs). I hung on to this verse:
He Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down or relax My hold on you! Assuredly not! -- Heb. 13:5 (Amplified NT)
I printed this verse out in large bold type, and taped it to the wall adjacent to my computer, so I could see it every day I was cranking out resumes. I hope it might encourage you to the same extent it encouraged me and kept me going.

Hi folks
I was in your same boat. I can't compare my situation to the house buying though.
But don't let the 'downtime' opportunity pass. It might not sound like something you want to think about, but if you're in the situation where you can travel/study do whatever do it! After a little time passed, I realized I felt worse worrying about layoffs, than after it happened.
like I said, I know not everyone is in the situation they can afford to miss even a month, but if you can, switch to fanks and beans for a month and take the chance to visit friends relatives, etc-- whatever you can do...
People thought I was crazy/lazy for the trips I took after I got laid off, (dot-bomber) but I know any freepers in the same boat will get through it just fine.

YIKES!
Best of luck, buddy.
Bright guy like you won't be down for long.
