True. Also, the author mentioned something about "Christians being equal with God." I'm not familiar with that particular trend in Christianity. Maybe the Mormons, whose theology teaches that God was a man, and man can become God, but that is just one, highly unorthodox, widely realized as such, sect.

Unfortunately, the author doesn't provide specifics, which is all too common with these types of screeds.

You are very lucky not to have run into this teaching in the mainstream conservative churches.I have run into it many times in different packages over my 33 years of church going.

"2 Pet. 2:1-3 “But the Spirit explicitly says that in the last days some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons.” — 1 Tim. 4:1

The denomination you mentioned came out a mainstream Christianity in the 1830's. The Bible warns us many times to try the spirits, and warns us that many will be deceived.

The "Christians being equal with God" idea had been broadcast on the cable channel TBN a.k.a. "The Blasphemy Network". Hank Hannegraaf, Dave Hunt and others have catalogued these guys (and gals) on TBN. Look into people like Paul Croutch, Benny Hinn, Paul Capps, and you'll see the weird teachings that are mentioned in the article.

As far as Albert Pike goes, I've actually read those passages from Morals and Dogma - the Loosipherian quotes are spot on accurate.
