Bill Buckner.

Hey! As a courtesy I have not mentioned the name Michael Servetus, please refrain from mentioning THAT name again. ;^)

OK.

But in context I only brought the player who I won't name up to show that because of the player who I won't name, the Cubs are in no way in the back seat of the BoSox's car. Equals in futility at worst.

We're not scared of the Servetus issue -as long as the facts are accurate!

The Burning of Michael Servetus by Emanuel Stickelberger.

The popular account is typically featured on "I hate John Calvin" web-sites and the like and tends to be quite biased. On the otherhand, Stickelberger, who has researched original sources in the Geneva historical archives comes to quite a different account.

There are some anti-Calvinists who do treat the issue more honestly, though. From a universalist web-site and a, likewise, universalist author see: The Trial and Execution of Michael Servetus at Geneva 1553 by Earl Morse Wilbur

I'd recommend reading both these fine accounts and be prepared for some fun if this issue arises in your class.

Jean
