But only the LDS were able to exterminate a group of innocent people.

No it was John Lee who relied on the ARM of Man, instead of the ARM of God!

Spin? LOL. You're the one spinning.

A spin would be this.

Before the massacre of innocents, John Lee was LDS.
During the massacre of innocents, John Lee was not LDS.
After the massacre of innocents, John Lee was LDS.

That rest is spin.

Do you take personal responability for any crime commited by a member of your church Wrigley?

Does your church take responability if a member or a group of members commit a crime?

Of course not in normal situations.

But that would depend on if the church hierarchy knew about a crime and didn't do anything to stop it. Or even if it approved of the actions.

I think your missing the point though.

rest has been trying to say that there were no LDS involved in the MMM.

So you were a Mormon, eh ...

Better a hypocrite than a demon-spawn.

Glad you made the right choice.

As St. Thomas says ... upon a true dispute of conscience, it's better to leave the Church than remain in the Church a hypocrite.

'Course, he's talking about the Catholic Church.

(Here's to you and the rest on the 3rd decade ... ever hopeful. =)

Do you fear Joseph Smith, or do you obey God? You can't do both.

Very interesting thread, AJ ... save for all the really inane posturing and damning to hell of others. How Christian.

Your comment reminds me of one of my favorite bumperstickers down here: "You cannot be Catholic AND Pro-Choice"

None of the above.

If you don't heed the prophet's words, you will not obey God, my friend. And you will suffer for it if it is willful.

And just what IS required to Obey GOD?

1 John 3:18-24
 18.  Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
 19.  This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence
 20.  whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.
 21.  Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God
 22.  and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.
 23.  And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.
 24.  Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

Any more than these two you'll be hard pressed to show from the Scriptures.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Jesus say there were those around him who would not taste death before the Kingdom came? If that is true, why was he not also a false prophet?

Well... let's just read the Scriptures about this; shall we?

NIV Matthew 16:28
 28.  I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before
they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

NIV Mark 9:1
 1.  And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before
they see the kingdom of God come with power."

NIV Luke 9:27
 27.  I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before
they see the kingdom of God."

These three Gospel writers report the same incident, using just slight variations in the wording........

NIV John 8:51-53
 51.  I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death."
 52.  At this the Jews exclaimed, "Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that if anyone keeps your word, he will never taste death.
 53.  Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?"

NIV Hebrews 2:9
 9.  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

 John 21:20-24
 20.  Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is going to betray you?")
 21.  When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?"
 22.  Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me."
 23.  Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, "If  I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?"
 24.  This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.

These verses contain a bit more info on 'tasting death' and 'dying'.

Also, immediately after Jesus statement He takes Peter, James and John up on the Mount opf Transfiguration which many biblical scholars describe as a type of the Kingdom.

Thus SOME (and only some) of them did get a preview of the Kingdom prior to death.

Joe Smith was a false prophet. That's an absolute, Biblical fact.

Yup; there is NO denying THIS!

Unless there is some part of BRAIN missing!

(BTW the rest of the Prophecie was omitted)

If one finds a FLY in the punch bowl; it makes no sense to comment on the rest of the foods on the table.
