Newspaper Reports Cardinal Intentionally Overlooked Clinton
NEW YORK (CWN) - A New York newspaper reported today that Cardinal John O'Connor deliberately chose not to invite President Bill Clinton to an annual political dinner because of the president's failure to sign a bill banning partial-birth abortions.
The new York Post reported that the Smith Foundation has invited Vice-President Al Gore and Republican vice-presidential candidate Jack Kemp to the annual Al Smith political dinner three weeks before the November elections.
"Sources said the presidential snub is the latest shot fired in the archdiocesan crusade against Clinton's veto...." the Post said. "
