Oh. Well, I have no real problem with that. Not at all like what Rome once advocated and urged upon monastic orders.

And yet I think God wants us to live joyfully and increase the abundance of the planet that He has provided for us as a reflection of His glory.
3 John 1:2 - "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."

Buddhism, by definition, is an empty, endless slumber..."the teaching of Buddha that life is permeated with suffering caused by desire, that suffering ceases when desire ceases, and that enlightenment obtained through right conduct, wisdom and meditation releases one from desire, suffering, and rebirth."

I, for one, don't want to be released from my "desire," most especially my fervent desire to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

And the only "rebirth" that exists is through Jesus Christ.

Enlightenment is a meaningless word without scriptural reference outside of Christ.

And as for "suffering," my family and I saw "The Pianist" tonight. It was a wrenching, numbing film about the evil mankind is capable of.

Unlike Dr. Kornfeld's story, Polanski had no room for God in his movie and not much space for courage either. It was luck or simple endurance that allowed some to survive such stark brutality.

However, as a Christian, I see it all as God's design. The greater the pain, the harder it is to understand and accept.

But it's is all of God. And that is an eternal comfort.
