Do babies go to Heaven?

Hope no one minds the vanity too much.
I was thinking last night about this idea and was trying to make it jive somewhat with the notion of predeterminationalism if that is the correct word.
Also was curious regarding what the various Christian denominations taught on this subject.

Of course I believe in a trinity. The Father, the Son, and the Holy SpiritWell at least historic Christianity got one thing right, eh? doh.
To: JesseShurun
Yes, learning is fun. But paying for your crime, as a common theif, is not what Jesus was speaking of. :-)

What do you consider historic Christianity? Certainly not Rome which has slaim the martyrs for the Word of God and their testimony?????
Revelation 6:9 ¶And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Umm, let's unwrap the package. The thief, was he immediately taken up into heaven-- after all the Lord could have sent him, tout suite. Or did he hang there, suffering with and alongside of the Lord, and share in the crucifixion? What an ineffable honor! His sins were forgiven, no punishment was even due him, was there?

Note to George here. I am not Arminian.Yes you are...you may not like the title but your own personal doctrine lines up with theirs..
To: Jael
You didn't answer the question.

"Recall that .. the ass saw truth and spoke truth ...." So? The Devil, himself, saw and spoke Truth to the Lord Jesus:
"He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone". [Matt.4:6]

GW, I agree that it was an in extremis event and that one can't properly form an entire theology around such things.
My point, though, had to with Jael's declaring OP to be heretic and a non-Christian because he belongs to a denomination that practices infant baptism.
I was checking to see how far she would go with her "proper baptism is the cause of salvation" ideology.

So? The Devil, himself, saw and spoke Truth to the Lord Jesus:So Matchett do you think the ass was saved? Using that criteria he must have been huh? And what about Judas..He was also "touched" and he cast out demons and healed in the name of Jesus..he was "touched"
To: Jael; OrthodoxPresbyterian; drstevej
I just don't see the need. If his faith was not sure and he needed to be sprinkled on the head to feel better about it, then he probably wasn't a believer anyway. Going to the Scriptures would of been more comforting to him, and might of given him some assurance.
According to your view, there is ultimately no reason to baptize anyone at all. From your understanding, it was just ritual.
I don't think Jesus was into ritual. I believe there's real spiritual power present in baptism. The problem with turning baptism into mere symbology is that it renders baptism ineffectual of anything.

M-PI:
"you should be able to give us the Scriptures that reveal when God chose his elect, what they will receive, and what those he didn't select (elect) will receive. Would you be so kind as to provide those Scriptures from the Bible?" Jael: "What's the election due to?"
M-PI: "You changed the subject. Where are your Scriptures that answer the above 3 questions?"
Jael: "Change the subject? You can't discuss the subject unless you know what causes it."
Where did I ask you to discuss anything?
I'll ask you for the third, and last time, to provide the Scriptures that answer the above 3 questions.
If you can't locate the Scriptures, why not just try asking google to find the Scriptures FOR you? Just type in those 3 questions .... maybe google knows Scripture better than you do. LOL

So? The Devil, himself, saw and spoke Truth to the Lord Jesus: "He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone". [Matt.4:6]
I will rephrase.
Recall that, in this miraculous instance, the ass saw and spoke GOD directed truth to the deceived.

And I find that, a modest opinion....
To: Matchett-PI
I'll ask you for the third, and last time, to provide the Scriptures that answer the above 3 questions. BUT MPI..that would mean that they have to admit they believe in a salvation by works...so there is the sound of silence........................shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Also was curious regarding what the various Christian denominations taught on this subject.Eastern Orthodoxy - they might well go to heaven. It is up to God to decide.

Jesse, you're on unsteady grounds here. And that "baptism of suffering" is a truly bad idea. Jael is pretty much correct about this matter, i.e. he is relating the traditional orthodox view of the thief. And he recognizes that baptism is not essential to salvation but that baptism should under normal circumstances follow salvation in pretty short order as a simple act of obedience to Jesus' command that His followers should be baptized. But baptism is not salvation. Baptism is an ordinance of a new believer into the priesthood of believers, not salvation itself.
