Sunday School Teacher Arrested on Molestation Charges

Sacramento police have arrested a 36-year-old Sunday school teacher on charges of molesting a 12-year-old boy.

Christopher Todd Hettiger was a church elder and taught Sunday school for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Rio Tierra Avenue in south Natomas.

Hettiger apparently met the boy and his mother through the church and hired the woman as a housekeeper. The boy attended Hettinger's Sunday school class and stayed overnight at Hettiger’s home on several occasions.

According to police, the case broke when the boy no longer wanted to visit Hettiger. When his mother asked why, he revealed the alleged molested, which had been going on for more than a year.

Hettiger also worked in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program four years ago. His many contacts with young people have raised suspicions that there might be additional victims.

According to investigators, Hettinger has no criminal record. He is self-employed, working out of his house as a computer consultant.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call (916) 443-HELP.

Hi drstevej, nice to see you're still around. And yes, I haven't forgotten you either.

Isn't it ironic you can't refute the truth preferring to persist in bigotry and in this case, attack HOW the post was written?

Why is it I only use such a tone with you and with CARepubGal? Could it be because you two are the most intolerant bigots on Free Republic?

I don't disregard attacks on my faith and am utterly merciless with bigots who demonize and distort the faith of others in complete disregard of facts.

Our society is facing severe threats. Danger to our freedoms and lives are mounting. Liberalism is destroying everything we hold dear. Your actions of irrational hostility against everything Mormon, the single most conservative faith in the US, is GUARANTEED to fracture a united opposition to the deterioration of our world. It isn't smart to stick a knife in an ally's back when you're standing together against liberalism. If we go down, you go down as well. You're slitting your own throat.

As a Canadian, I can testify to the idiocy of dividing the Right - we've done it up here. There has been two conservative parties in Canada for the past decade. The result? The federal Liberals have been governing Canada all this time, plunging our good relations with the US, and creating problems so immense that we will probably break up as a nation sooner than Europe is conquered by Islam.

Do you want the same thing to occur to the US? We Mormons won't forget or join forces with those who are trying to destroy or demonize us.

Rethink this sentence. It is a cornucopia of illogic. This isn't to say that the rest of your post was logical, but this was the high water mark of your rant.

Really? I don't know what the age of consent is in the US or in the first third of the 19th century. Here in Canada, the age is 14. I heard in Mexico it is 12 (much too young imo).

I don't know what ages the wives of BY or JS were. So sorry.

Ah, so, are you willing to tango again? I based my statement on the US Almanac which describes the Mormons as the most conservative Americans and the Jews as the most liberal Americans. Wouldn't my statement then be an accurate description?

Why is it illogical to say irrational hostility of one group of conservatives towards another group of conservatives "fractures a united opposition?"

Someone's clearly not thinking right.

I heard that as well. Unfortunately, I really don't know much about beliefs of the Mormon fundamentalists except for their continued practice of polygyny.

While there's something to be said about my enemies enemy is my friend, a possible thought behind the above words, when it comes to politics that may well be true. Yet Edward Watson appears to think that means we should sit idly by and not say anything about bad theology.

Some links I find helpful to better understand Mormon theology:

While I think it's important for all conservatives to fight liberalism, that doesn't mean all conservatives agree theologically and those differences need to be expressed.

Well Joseph Smith taught that no man could become exhaulted to be a God unless he had plural wives here ...they take him seriously

It is none of your business. And I did exactly what your "prophets" command you to do and I asked God whether or not your faith was true. He answered with a firm emphatic NO! And until that point I did live the guilt ridden works based Mormon life. Afterwards, I learned that God does not care if I have a cup of coffee. As for smokes, drinks and drugs, the only one of those three I actually take are prescription drugs from a doctor. Incidentally the only things I constantly ridicule and oppose are liberals especially Clintons and jehadis. If you want to include mormons on that list of shame, feel free. I do not.

Amen, thanks for the admission.

EW, politics is temporal, theology is eternal. Guess which I see as more important by comparison? Further, why is it not possible to have a united front in moral issues yet vigorously debate and disagree in religious issues? Your either/or style excludes other alternatives.

BTW, I think the Moonies are a cult despite their ownership of the conservative Washington Times. Should I embrace their lunacy (pun intended) because I want to keep a united front with those publishing the Times? No way.

Moon and Joseph Smith are both false prophets.

***Mormons as the most conservative Americans and the Jews as the most liberal Americans***

So are the Jews by this reasoning our enemies? Not for me!

The issue isn't theological disagreements, it's an active opposition to Mormonism on every level, instead of agreeing to disagree theologically in order to join forces socially.

I remember hearing a story that occured in the Southern US a number of years ago when the Baptists and Evangelicals didn't want to join forces with the Mormons in opposing a pro-homosexual legislation simply because they considered Mormonism evil. Such a short-sighted action nearly resulted in the passing of a law that would've made gay marriage legal in the state.

We Mormons are always willing to join forces with conservatives, regardless of their religion, to ensure leftist agendas aren't allowed to destroy our society. Would that others feel the same way.

Wrigley that is not true, I can tell if one wants to disagree or has an ax to grind! You have your self have become over top lately with some of your statements.

I have often watch you do several things, either you-

1-try to set up some kind a good guy inquiry only to afterwords like when your prey lands than SWAT at it, it matter not that you spin or or distort you got your prey!

2- Lately you have gone over board in your inflammatory statements!

3- Also when you see flames, you like to fan them!

I think CA did not realize how she was coming across after a reading one of her replies! Some things is gnawing at her and unkwoningly I believe is spelling into her inpersonal post I might be wrong!

The Lord I know commanded us to "Love One Another"!

I don't recall him saying only LOVE those who act like you!

I never thought of you as my enemy and I know for Sure the Lord dose not think of Me as His Enemy-

So who left you in charge?

I know God loves me, and God love you!

So if the Lord love each of us-

Who am I to Ignore his Commandments?

LOL. You don't separate between a disagreement with your (false) church and a disagreement with you.

You have your self have become over top lately with some of your statements. I have often watch you do several things, either you-

1-try to set up some kind a good guy inquiry only to afterwords like when your prey lands than SWAT at it, it matter not that you spin or or distort you got your prey!

Maybe when I first started looking into your (false ) church.

2- Lately you have gone over board in your inflammatory statements!

I'd like to see some of these just to know what you consider inflammatory. I might agree.

3- Also when you see flames, you like to fan them!

Maybe, but where there is fire there is also fuel for that fire. The church that Joseph Smith, SBUHN, created has much in the way of fuel for Christians to use to burn the false church.

I think CA did not realize how she was coming across after a reading one of her replies! Some things is gnawing at her and unkwoningly I believe is spelling into her inpersonal post I might be wrong!

Maybe knowing all the years she lost as a Mormon before God opened her eyes and allowed her to see the false beliefs she was taught and tried to live.

I'd be interested to see a source for your story. I'm not saying it isn't true as I can see that happening easily, I just know how easy urban legends are created.

This spiritually born Bible believing Christian will join you and anybody else to fight liberalism.

Above all that there's theology, and having your key tenets of theology true to the Bible is more important than anything.

It's easy to get emotional and off track when someone posts information that brings your worldview into question or challenges your worldview in a public forum. We both know the sites I listed are a correct summary of Mormonism, the thing I'm trying to do is get them to see bad theology for what it is.

Mirroring is ineffective and can denote mental illness. I suggest you find a non Mormon counselor soon. You are personalizing questions directed at your faith as if they are attacks on you. That is not the case. You are not someone I know so why waste the time or Jim's bandwidth attacking you? The LDS church is a sick entity. It damages its followers and demands their lives be spent serving it, not in the direct service of Christ. The only thing I question was why did I waste so much time being a Mormon?
