Oh, but I haven't judged. I used an either-or construction precisely because I don't know and don't pretend to know the state of the Pope's psychology when he places certain scandalous acts. There can be no doubt that idolatry is wrong and unCatholic. There can be no dispute that this Pope has participated in ceremonies which are heathen. The why is what is disputed.
