The Bible documents divisions in the body of believers and differences of doctrinal opinion throughout the epistles. They weren't considered "protestants" because no one had yet claimed a monopoly on true Christian faith.

Also, can you provide any documentation of Protestant Theologians and Churches that existed from the death of the Apostle John to the Reformation?

Monopoly?

I've heard that word used before in relation to the Catholic church. What makes you use it? Just because we haven't split off from the original tradition?
