Let me put it this way. If Mary had other children, and if they were not taking care of her, then they were sinning by not doing so.

Weelll, let me repeat, they didn't believe in him and they were not there. John "the one Jesus loved" was the only one there and Jesus entrusted her care to him. I guess Jesus could do whatever he wanted to. No?

Yes. And if they were doing this because Jesus told them to, then He was leading them to sin. To break the Law, not fulfill it.
