Grammer that is a DUMB statement..How else does one chose other than by what he prefers..do you eat cauliflower? Sushi?

Not ordinarily, but I am free to do so. ;)

The point is YOU chose because you chose what you like...what you like is your preference..

Actually, the point is that I chose because I am a free agent capable of making that choice without being necessitated. What I like only plays a role.

I do not care what Ralston said we are the ones talking...can you think for yourself without a text book?

You tell me. Or better yet, don't. If you don't like the way I support my arguments with outside sources, don't argue with me.

We are TOTALLY limited by what God permits ..to think otherwise is to be blind ...

How does that affect my free agency? So what?

Or put another way maybe God really is God and just maybe He really is sovereign. Uncomfortable with the thought?

Or put it the way Ralston did, and God really is God, and man really is responsible.

He also gave me my genes that decided my temperment and preferences (yes they are proved to be genetic)

Sorry, you're going to have to prove that one. Nature vs. nurture has been a hot topic in psychology for some time, and I doubt it'd be won by one side or the other without anyone from the outside world hearing about it.

I am not a rock..I choose my life ..but my life choices are limited by my birth, geography, IQ, sex, race etc...none of which I had control over.. they were all decided by God.

Again, your free agency means that you choose your life. So what if your life choices are limited? Free agency simply means that the choice you make isn't necessitated by anything outside of yourself. That still covers having limited options. If you'd read the article, I wouldn't even be wasting my time repeating it.

God made me in such a way that He knows exactly what I will freely chose, what I will like and what I will not like.

Another point irrelevant to any discussion of free agency.

Was Jesus a robot?

Irrelevant. Jesus is God. God didn't "program" himself--neither did he "program" mankind.

I thought of you today at the dentists office..I was reading Julys issues of US news and World report ,there was a little blurb in there that in a study published in Science they scanned the brains of 28 people. While they lay in the MRI Machine they wore virtual reality glasses that showed them pictures of angry or frightening peoples faces. This would produce a changein the activity of theamygdala (an area deep in the brain) that controls emotions, fear and anxiety. The scans showed a "hyped up" response in 14 individuals who has a "short" version of one particular gene.

The "snippet of the DNA makes a protein that vacuums up a chemical messenger from the spacesw between the nerve cells so that it can not stimulate the cells.

This keeps the nervous system -including the brain calm

The short gene however does not do that...

Thus although we can be influenced by our "nurture" (also hand selected by God) It seems that God has predetermined if your palms sweat when you have to speak publically

predestination at the most basic level of our existance

Psa 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.

Jer 29:11 (NIV) "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Predestination Gram

Jer 10:23   O LORD, I know that the way of man [is] not in himself: [it is] not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
