See post # 20, Mack.

So much for your HSITS (Holy Spirit Interprets Sacred Scripture)

YOPIOS in regard to your HSITS theory doesn't hold water, there's no scriptural proof that you individually will be lead to a proper understanding of scripture. Peter says otherwise here. Christ says he gives His Church authority not individuals divorced from His Church.

CatholicGuy,

Don't forget the excerpt in Acts where the eunich admits its impossible to understand scripture unless someone (in this case the Apostles) teaches him the proper interpretation. Again, Acts disproves HSITS.

Do you remember the chapter and verse?

In my mind its the former, not the latter, with the accent on the first syllable. (Hey, since I coined the mnemonic, I get to establish pronunciation guidelines, right?)

What about YOPIOSism and YOPIOSists? Or is it YOPIOSites.

Maybe Sitetest should way in on that last one.

"YOPIOSiswrong" has potential for a screen name too.

All in good fun, of course, no offense intended...no more than those who say we're condemned to hell but only because they love us.

Dear Polycarp,

Well, if the proper pronunciation of yopios is YO' pee iss, then I think that yopioSITE (YO' pee o SIT") [long "o" in third syllable, secondary emphasis on "site"] is preferable to yopioSIST.

If it were preferable to pronounce yopios as yo PEE' os, then yopioSIST would be preferable.

Try them out for yourself. Roll 'em around in your mouth, you'll see.

<> Excellent example. Remember also, Acts wherein Jesus personally confronts Saul. Jesus doesn't tell him, "Look, Saul, stop persecuting me. Now, go read the Bible."

No, he sends him to the nascent Catholic Church for catechesis AND to have his blindness cured.

Scripture itself witnesses AGAINST SOLA SCRIPTURA and witnesses that Jesus ACTS THROUGH HIS CATHOLIC CHURCH HE ESTABLISHED,but, sola scriptura folks are blinded by the oral traditions of the 16th century heretics so they dont even acknowledge the plain facts of scripture<>

Psa 119:105 . Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. ..written by the man after God's own heart

How about if the Sola Scriptura people adopt YOPIOTPOPIOS to use in regard to the opinions that Catholics make about scripture? Your own personal interpretation of the Pope's own personal interpretation of scripture.

Anyone go to church and pray here??? Protestants who accuse Catholics of following man's traditions are following man's new tradition of owning a computer and chatting on the internet all day and night...also called idolatry (your God the internet).

Ask poly for him to post his testimony...

I'm interested in your experience(s?). You say that "some people that forget what the Holy Spirit leading you is like...". Do you know what it is like? Would you care to share what it is like? Or are you one who has forgotten what it is like? I'm familiar with poly's testimony, but you made the claim that infers that you remember what the Holy Spirit leading you is like. What's it like?
