Do you sing hymns at church? That is what these prayers are -- spoken hymns. They serve the same function: to get a person in the right frame of mind for worship.

Ok now we have 3 different things, prayer, singing, and chanting. They are all different. Someone rightly pointed out earlier that there is repetition in a couple of psalms which are songs. But heathens chant to their gods and that is what God doesn't want.

Do you repeat the psalms? The monks did this in choir. Such things are forbidden?

Through 'chanting' and 'vain repetition' of the Holy Rosary, my father, who swore he would never be baptized, came into the Church and now goes to Mass regularly.

And now he even says the Rosary and wears a Brown Scapular.

I credit my father's change of mind to the intercession of the Mother of Jesus Christ and the Holy Rosary, which I wore myself out praying. Many repetitions to say the least.

I also credit the Our Lady and her rosary for not only bringing my brother back to the Church after his roommate had him hooked into leaving the Church to become Baptist, but also bringing the roommate out of the Baptist Church and into the Catholic Church.

"Never will anyone who says his rosary every day be led astray. This is a statement that I would gladly sign with my blood."-St. Louis De Montfort (who's body was found to be incorrupt)

<. Please cite the Scripture for this claim<>
