Let the Bible be your guide...
Not on your life! That is the Holy Spirit's job!

The Spirit illuminates our minds to the Word of God.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.[John 14:26]

and

But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.[John 16:7-14]

and, finally,

But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.[2 Pet 1:20-21

In summary, one cannot separate the ministry of the Holy Spirit from the Scriptures. When a believer says, "let the Bible be your guide," the illumination of the Spirit of God is implied.

To the extent that you accept any theory of implication, you are accepting that the Bible does not explicitly say that only that which is stated in the canon must be believed.

That's total rubbish. With the illumination of the Holy Spirit it is possible for God to guide in and through anything according to His sovereign will. The Holy Spirit is not second to the Holy Bible, nor is the Holy Bible on par with the Holy Spirit. God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. the Bible isn't even needed for one to receive salvation. The ministry of the Holy Spirit extends well beyond the confines of the Holy Bible, and if you think otherwise, then your god is just too small.
