He is not a secular world leader. He is head of the Catholic Church and therefore has given legitimacy to every other crackpot religion that cared to share the spotlight, even outright demon-worshipers. This is not even to mention the scandal he has given to millions of Catholics around the world. He is also doing something every previous pope had warned against as well--and understood as a violation of the First Commandment. He might have merely presided at a religious conference or given a friendly lunch at some fine hotel. But to have worshiped side by side with animists and Budhists and witchdoctors was unacceptable.
