I won't go to a church with that stupid hippy music or the Eucharist stuffed into some room off to the side. I will continue to pray for reverence and a sense of sacredness to return back to the mass, but as with everything else, the problem stems from our culture. Nothing is sacred in society--except of course all things deviant--and it has translated over into how Mass is viewed.

I am unsure of what to make of this. It appears to be a "new" Rite of the Church. There is so much here to digest and it keeps coming back up.

J, you're describing my childhood.
I won't do hippy music anymore either.

"won't go to a church with that stupid hippy music or the Eucharist stuffed into some room off to the side ... " Isn't it AWFUL? But go easy on the hippies! They ought not to be blamed. I was in Catholic schools from 1964-1975 so I lived through such a period of dreadfulness. Especially in regard to the music. All this "ta boom" music. The thing is, that unlike earlier forms of church music, it was a very inferior form of the music of the day. It was lightweight and unskilled. I can honestly say that I learnt more of the four last things (DEATH, JUDGEMENT, HEAVEN AND HELL) from the rock music of the period than I did from any of the "Christian formation" classes.
