Yes, the recent statements by the Catholic Church are very respectful, but the anti-jewish feeling which she describes was previous to this - went on for centuries. Unfortunately, the Vatican's more tolerant and thoughtful statements, in recent times, alienated a minority of traditional Catholics, who maintain an enmity toward Judaism.

"Traditional" Catholics who maintain any enmity should go back to square one -- the most important commandment to both Jews and Christians is to "love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart and with thy whole soul and with thy whole strength and with thy whole mind; and the second is like to it -- thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."
