My son received his First Communion last month. The nun in charge of the class refused him Communion on the tongue during practice - I was there. I told her that he made the decision himself and he understood the difference between the hand and tongue reception - she said "I don't care how he receives it for the rest of his life, but on Communion day he will take it in his hands" - I called the priest and my son did receive on his tongue, but the nun was fit to be tied.

The manner of reception of the Eucharist is an option for the recipient, and it should remain so.

AC, the nun was out of line; sm, your pastor is being a prig, AFAIC, but it's not something worth fighting over.

Receiving the Blessed Lord, one way or another, is what is important.

Way to go, colleen!! A large part of the problems in the Church are caused by that sort of tyranny by (probably) dissident teachers .
When he made his first confession, I bet she told him it had to be "face to face", no screen . Probably didn't tell him about that choice, I bet .
