JERUSALEM
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
I have never believed that the attack on the USS Liberty was a case of mistaken identity. That is ridiculous. I have flown over the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, thousands of hours, searching for ships and identifying all types of ships at sea. The Liberty was the ugliest, strangest looking ship in the U.S. Navy. As a communications intelligence ship, it was sprouting every kind of antenna. It looked like a lobster with all those projections moving every which way.Admiral Thomas H. Moorer
CIA Report June 13, 1967
The attack was not made in malice and was a mistake.
Joint Chiefs of Staff Fact Finding Team (Russ Report) June 9-20,
1967 Outlined "findings of fact," bud did not make any findings about the actual attack.
Clifford Report July 18, 1967
No premeditation, but "inexcusable failures" by Israeli forces constituing "gross negligence."
Senate Committee on Foreign Relations 1967
Secretary of Defense McNamara testified he supported conclusion that the attack was not intentional.
Senate Armed Services Committee Feb. 1, 1968
No conclusion. Secretary McNamara makes comparison of attack on Liberty to that on Pueblo with regard to uncertainty about what was happening at the time of the incident.
House Appropriations Committee April-May 1968
Navy communications "foulup" and no conclusion regarding Israeli actions. Much of report remains classified.
House Armed Services Committee May 10, 1971
Critical of Navy communications, no conclusion regarding Israeli actions.
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence 1979 <> Responding to critical book by Liberty crewman James Ennes, Senate investigation found no merit to his claim attack was intentional.
National Security Agency 1981
Liberty was mistaken for an Egyptian ship as a result of miscalculations and egregious errors.
House Armed Services Committee June 1991
Responding to request from Liberty Veterans Association, Subcommitte on Investigations launched probe that concluded there was no evidence to support allegations made by the Association and no reason for further investigation.
If you dont like the source, you can easily verify them on other websites. You are a marvel of disinformation.
Emphatically, NO!
However, when the two sides are asked the same question, one does NOT emphatically say "No". In fact, they are teaching their children that the answer is "Yes". Until they renounce their stand and have a 'change of heart', which means a modification of their inculcated beliefs; then, the two parties(neutral and persecuted) that do not support any eradication are forced to take up arms in defense against the 'one' party that seeks to eradicate the 'Great Satan' as it calls its enemies and their people. Apparently, there is one party that feels that 'evil people of a society' cannot be separated from 'ALL people of that society'. They lack the quality of discernment, and, as such must be judged as lacking such, and dealt with as any without discernment must be dealt with---harshly, IMHO.
Tell me Stealthy, do you comb the TV guide for Jews or something?
You really should look after your email trees. Or you might have them infested with snailmails.
Find me a poll where you can get 49% to think that ANYONE does have a well thought-out plan to end violence in the Middle East(nothing has worked for over 5,000 years). IMHO, it is a stupid Newsweak question directed at improving the outlook for the nonexistent 'good' ideas of the Marxist liberal left.
I understand it's countroversial, but the lies are amazing. Motives for an accident are, by definition, non existant.
FINDINGS OF FACT
1. Available evidence combines to indicate the attack on LIBERTY on 8 June was in fact a case of mistaken identity.
2. The calm conditions and slow ship speed may well have made the American Flag difficult to identify.
3. The ship's westerly heading at the time of attack - in the general direction of Egyptian ports may have reinforced elements of doubt in the minds of the several Israeli pilots who looked the ship over in the forenoon.
4. The colors were shot down early in the action and were replaced prior to the PT attack.
5. The immediate confusion milling around astern followed by peaceful
[161]
overtures by the attacking surface forces after launching only two torpedoes of the six presumed available (two on each PT boat), indicate these craft may well have identified the colors for the first time when they got in close enough to see clearly through the smoke and flames billowing, at times above the mast head.
6. There are no available indications that the attack was intended against a U. S. Ship.
It's a sad story, you can keep reading the Findings here: US NAVAL COURT OF INQUIRY--USS LIBERTY
Which one do you think American is dumb/dumber?
Its ok for a king of Saudi to deceive an infidle Nation!
Just the thought of kill little children of God makes me shudder!
If things are as you say(and, I don't believe they are), I would be as upset with the 'policy talk' as much as you are. I don't like some of the 'diplomacy'(hypocrisy) either, but, to a certain extent, I think it necessary and wise
I have often been faced with a 'red light', while an officer is waving me through. The 'right thing' can often override the 'appearance' of wrong. Bush did not kill the Israelis today, deceiving Palestinians did.
Did you learn all that at one of you anti-Israel seminars?
I would call it being an accommodating host, and sensitive to the cultures of my guests. If I have invited people over, and I know that some are subject to a varying array of social and religious taboos, I will, if it is in my wherewithal as host, try not to cause them to fall into sin or discomfort. You don't purposely set out booze for a group of recovering alcoholics, nor do you purposefully put out that which others might take offense at. It's permissable, but not hospitable.
You see it as 'cowering', I see it as being sensitive, much like Ashcroft's covering up the statues at justice so that the middle eastern nations would not be offended during the interviews pertaining to 'Johnny' bin Walker. A difference of opinion, something we can have without probably ever knowing for sure the actual underlying motive, rtd.
Actually, I think Stealthy has mixed up his anti-Israel course material with his home gardening class. A few more howlers like that and they'll probably boot him from the National Alliance.
For the anti-Israel seminars, check some other sites. Even after the demise of SF there are several with ongoing conversations about infiltrating FR.
What do you mean, we denied the email trees? There's a veritable forest of them, you know. Or haven't you dared to go in your back yard and check?
However, ICQ is not welcome here. It is a bad security risk and it interferes with the monitoring of your implant. Scr*ws up the gps.
You're saying that the media and the seminar Freepers witheld the news, so you beat them to it? By your rules, you must be a Pali or Saudi agent. I can see why you wouldn't broadcast that here, they're our enemies.
