The True Eucharist
Sapphires | Jonathan Cahn

Posted on 04/26/2002 9:01:52 AM PDT by WhatNot

Many churches focus on the "eucharist," which for them means the bread of the Lord's Supper. Other believer's don't think the concept of the eucharist is Biblical. But the concept of "eucharist" is Biblical. The word "eucharist" comes from the Greek "eu" meaning "good" and "charis" meaning "grace" or "blessing." The eucharist at the Last Supper was not the bread itself, but the blessing Messiah said over the bread. The blessing is one said in Jewish homes to this day: "Baruch Atah Adonai Elohaynu Melech Ha Olam, Ha Motzee Lechem Min Ha Aretz" - "Blessed are You O Lord Our God, King of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth." This is the true eucharist.

The true eucharist is never eaten, it is given. It is a blessing of thanks to God. It's not the bread, it is the blessing over the bread. And this distinction can change your life. Life doesn't consist of the things you have, but the blessings you say over them. You only truly have what you bless and give thanks for. Give the blessing of thanks over your, bread - your parents, your family, your friends, your situation - over everything, good and bad. And your life itself will be truly blessed, for such is the true eucharist.

Luke 22:14-20

TODAY'S MISSION

Prepare a private communion service today, with you and Messiah. Lift up to Him those things that need to receive His blessing - your loved ones, your job, your ministry.

To: OrthodoxPresbyterian It is anarchy, and I'm not embarrassed at all. I have Jesus Christ on my side. In defending HIS CHURCH I am defending HIM. 436 posted on 4/30/02 10:26 PM Pacific by oremus

A certain Pharisee said unto the Minister of the Remnant of God, "How DARE you claim to be the true Church?? You say you have one 'Remnant' in Judah, and another 'Remnant' in Israel, and still another 'Remnant' in Nineveh, who you claim to have been converted by the Prophet Jonah... but they do not even keep the same liturgical traditions as do we!! It's ANARCHY!!"

To which, the Minister of God could only respond, "We each, in our own times and places, were calleed out of Darkness by the Spirit of Truth... and by comparison, you worship IDOLS and have ABANDONED the Gospel of God... and the 'unity' of your 400 Prophets of Baal does not change that fact!!"

Translation: "I can't refute your statement, but I can always drag the latest Catholic scandal into the discussion to score a few easy shots." 439 posted on 4/30/02 10:32 PM Pacific by allend

I never imagined that Protestantism would be "uniform". The greatest repositories of Truth are always going to be the greatest targets for Satanic Division.

Which does not change the fact that, in Orthodox Presbytery, even one-time marital adulterers are summarily and immediately excommunicated... whereas in Romanism, serial pederastic rapists are sheltered and protected.

Hmmmm.....

You are naive if you think it only occurs in the RC Church. Hardly the case, and statistically speaking the numbers are much smaller. You hear about it on the news only because Satan despises the One, True Church all the more. 432 posted on 4/30/02 10:15 PM Pacific by oremus

The other explanation being that, in an Institution which has sheltered and encouraged the Wolves, the wolves are having a bloody field day. And have been for decades.

Nahhhhh... couldn't be.

Again, YAWN, there have been and always will be Judases. Aside from that, who are you to judge looking in from the outside? Things are not always as they seem. We'll all see your sins, too, on the Last Day, and it won't be like CNN so you better worry about keeping your own house clean in the meantime. See post 439, again.

Ah, I should have mentioned it earlier, but your post #417 was actually pretty good. Could you take a short break, calm down a little, and do a repeat performance? 444 posted on 4/30/02 10:52 PM Pacific by allend

Actually, yes. I enjoy Church history greatly. I will freely "take a break" for a scholarly discussion whenever such is requested of me. (That said, I consider myself first-and-foremost an Apologist, not a Scholar; and so I consider it my first duty to defend the ramparts when Romanists are assaulting the Gospel of Grace. Like the Brits and the Jerries in WorldWar1, I only trade rations with the Enemy when we are *not* shooting at eachother.)

You meant it as a challenge, but you will forgive me if I again take it instead as a point of proof.

Now....

You dare to call Calvinist Monergism fatalist... do you not, think it spiritually interesting that Calvinist Monergist congregations are the only ones who can be counted upon to uniformly uphold the Sanctity and Dignity of Life?

Interesting, that......

Open your mind.
Jesus is Lord.
And He rules even now, even today.... in Calvinist churches.

Interesting, that.....

You mean like telling people they actually have to obey God if they want to get to heaven? 448 posted on 4/30/02 11:08 PM Pacific by allend

Gosh... not only do people have to obey Christ's Lordship (though He is faithful and just to forgive us if we should confess when we fail) -- they have to actually believe in Christ's Lordship.

That's a far more fundamental matter than mere outward obedience.

Excuse me, but the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH teaches that HOMOSEXUALITY, ABORTION, FORNICATION, ADULTERY, AND YES, CONTRACEPTION (yours?) IS WRONG. THAT IS THE MORAL TEACHING OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.

Some "congregations" or "factions" of the may Church choose to dissent from those teachings, but they DO NOT SPEAK FOR THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, NOR DO THEY CHANGE IT'S TEACHINGS.

THE OFFICIAL MORAL TEACHINGS OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH HAVEN'T CHANGED.

And lest we forget with your changing of the subject and all, the thread is about the EUCHARIST.

"Unless you eat MY BODY and drink MY BLOOD you have no life in you." --Jesus Christ

At last check Calvinists don't eat HIS BODY and drink HIS BLOOD. They reject TRANSUBSTANTIATION, and hence Christ's own words and commands.

Unfortunately, I have seen this type of attack from all sides. I do not understand the need for name calling nor do I understand the need to belittle others beliefs. I will make a stand on an issue, and will defend it, and I will tell them where I think they are wrong, but I will not resort to name calling or belittling. I have been the recipient of this type of attack by some from the other side (you can trace back the posts, I have been nothing but cordial). I have gotten angry with a couple of people. I simply ignore them now. Whatever they say is as a puff of smoke. I enjoy a good argument, a well fought word battle. What I don't enjoy is a name calling belittlement feud.

The Calvinist position is explicit Decalogual. (Ten-Commandmental).

If it kills or endangers Conceived Life, it is a Violation of the Sixth Commandment, period.

I told you what the official teachings of the Catholic Church are - they are not hidden. If the other churches you list teach that these things are ok, well that's their problem - but the FACT REMAINS: THE CATHOLIC CHURCH DOES NOT TEACH THAT HOMOSEXUALITY AND ABORTION ARE ACCEPTABLE. IT IS NOT OFFICIAL ROMAN CATHOLIC TEACHING. So what the heck are you saying? Don't lump the Catholic Church in with your garbage. It simply doesn't hold water! There is NO COMPARISON.

And, I challenge you: Do the Calvinists reject contraception, or not??? A very important question.
