The True Eucharist
Sapphires | Jonathan Cahn

Posted on 04/26/2002 9:01:52 AM PDT by WhatNot

Many churches focus on the "eucharist," which for them means the bread of the Lord's Supper. Other believer's don't think the concept of the eucharist is Biblical. But the concept of "eucharist" is Biblical. The word "eucharist" comes from the Greek "eu" meaning "good" and "charis" meaning "grace" or "blessing." The eucharist at the Last Supper was not the bread itself, but the blessing Messiah said over the bread. The blessing is one said in Jewish homes to this day: "Baruch Atah Adonai Elohaynu Melech Ha Olam, Ha Motzee Lechem Min Ha Aretz" - "Blessed are You O Lord Our God, King of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth." This is the true eucharist.

The true eucharist is never eaten, it is given. It is a blessing of thanks to God. It's not the bread, it is the blessing over the bread. And this distinction can change your life. Life doesn't consist of the things you have, but the blessings you say over them. You only truly have what you bless and give thanks for. Give the blessing of thanks over your, bread - your parents, your family, your friends, your situation - over everything, good and bad. And your life itself will be truly blessed, for such is the true eucharist.

Luke 22:14-20

TODAY'S MISSION

Prepare a private communion service today, with you and Messiah. Lift up to Him those things that need to receive His blessing - your loved ones, your job, your ministry.

If you want to see the thread that got pulled, I've got the whole thing except for the last 6 posts. Freepmail me, & I'll send it to you privately. I would ask that you not re-post the whole thing, that negates pulling the thread.
The point is she claimed that “Brian has publically stated he likes to bait people to get them banned” yet that isn’t what he stated on that thread, she is inferring his intent. She knows it isn’t what he stated, she doesn’t need to see the thread to see that. Posting his quote here would only demonstrate that she inferred into his post, and contrast that with her refusal to even address the_doc’s language, much less infer any intent on his part: “So it is not mine to judge the intenet of his heart.” This is just trying to muddy the waters a bit and distract from the_doc’s words.

You continue to do an exemplary job of casting light on the darkness..

Now, reading of a "Catholic conspiracy" on this thread has given me a good laugh because Hillary Clinton could not have done better.

Granted, I probably didn't have enough contact with The_Doc to know better ... but, what a disappointment.

I hadn't realized how deep was his hatred of the Church.

then again, if the_doc is correct......

(don't confuse bluntness with 'hate' -you'll sound like a liberal democrat -yes, that was a low blow, but with all this talk of doc's 'hate mail', I almost thought I stumbled on the DNC's homepage)

P.S. I thought I wasn't allowed to talk to you, why are you 'pinging' me?

The Bible anti-dates Thomas Aquinas,

(- Thomas Aquinas Born c.1225 at Roccasecca, Aquino, Naples, Italy Died 7 March 1274,)

so I take the Bible's advice

Acts 17:11
Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

Thomas Aquinas did not understand Biblical Hermeneutics

publically stated he likes to bait people to get them banned..

No, an anti-Catholic bigot claimed, wrongfully, that I like to bait people to get them banned.

Its pitiful that, in the face of the insults and slurs of one of your OP peers, all you will do is heap on more of the same, and refuse to rightfully condemn his words.

But if they are being hateful then they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. It would be bad if they got banned but maybe they'd think before they did it again.

My actual words, and the context of those words, are still part of the public record here on Free Republic. RnMomof7, at best, is misrepresenting my words and intent. At worst, she is lying through her teeth. It would take some time to find it (I don't currently remember which thread it was on) but if I must dig it up and paste it here to defend myself, I will do so.

RnMomof7, I'm really disappointed in you.

Its bad enough the slurs and insults I received from the-Doc.

Your sinful calumny and detraction is an far greater hurt.

Many of the quotes in post 44 coincide with when the bible was written. What is your specific argument against transubstantiation as defined in them. I am going to look at your link and then address it. Thanks for the reply.

Anyone reading the_doc's insults and slurs already has an abject lesson in the difference between preaching the gospel and hatemail.

I can't believe you OP's are so foolish as to defend him.

I looked at the link.

Main Entry: her·me·neu·tics
Pronunciation: -tiks
Function: noun plural but singular or plural in construction Date: 1737
: the study of the methodological principles of interpretation (as of the Bible)

I disagree with the assertion that Aquinas didn't understand how to "interpret" the bible. Aquinas used the Latin Vulgate bible, which was translated by St. Jerome (342-420) from the original languages.

St. Jerome knew Latin and Greek perfectly. He also knew Hebrew and Aramaic almost as well. He was 1500 years closer to the original languages than any scholar today, which makes him a better judge of the exact meaning of any Greek or Hebrew word in the scriptures. He also had access to 2nd and 3rd century manuscripts, which have since parished and no longer exist. St. Jerome's tranlation, moreover, was a careful wor-for-word rendering of the original texts into latin, instead of the "interpreting" of scripture that some "scholar" engage in.

How do you figure Aquinas didn't understand hermaneutics? Do you have an argument against anything concrete?

I'll ask you the question I posted to Dr. Brian Kopp, when the Bible says in

Psalm 91:4a
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;
Does this passage mean that God is a chicken?

or when Jesus said "I am the bread of life"
Does that mean that Jesus is a loaf of bread?

In other words, is this figurative speaking or should we take it as literally speaking?
