The True Eucharist

Many churches focus on the "eucharist," which for them means the bread of the Lord's Supper. Other believer's don't think the concept of the eucharist is Biblical. But the concept of "eucharist" is Biblical. The word "eucharist" comes from the Greek "eu" meaning "good" and "charis" meaning "grace" or "blessing." The eucharist at the Last Supper was not the bread itself, but the blessing Messiah said over the bread. The blessing is one said in Jewish homes to this day: "Baruch Atah Adonai Elohaynu Melech Ha Olam, Ha Motzee Lechem Min Ha Aretz" - "Blessed are You O Lord Our God, King of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth." This is the true eucharist.

The true eucharist is never eaten, it is given. It is a blessing of thanks to God. It's not the bread, it is the blessing over the bread. And this distinction can change your life. Life doesn't consist of the things you have, but the blessings you say over them. You only truly have what you bless and give thanks for. Give the blessing of thanks over your, bread - your parents, your family, your friends, your situation - over everything, good and bad. And your life itself will be truly blessed, for such is the true eucharist.

I make of it that you are willing to infer intent against us, but unwilling to so much as comment on the_doc's language above. I mean really, what evidence do you have that I have "an abuse button ring that is ready on command to strike." Talk about your ultimate inferences. You see bigots get banned, and don't know why, and you blame me? Yet you can't speak at all on the subject of the_doc's attacks, which are right in front of you in black and white.

I am a little surprised you are willing to lay this out so starkly, I would have actually expected you to try to smooth it over a bit, but you are making the difference between how you judge people you don't know well and how you judge people who are supposedly your friends here on FR quite plain. That is a hypocritical action.

This isn’t very honest of you RN, you know quite well that I have denied this before. I deny your accusation again. I do not push the abuse button, with rare exceptions (and I publicly note it when I do) and I am not a part of a Catholic conspiracy.

You have to be kidding. I’ve made quite plain what I object to here, and if I thought his words were true, but still wanted to object to them, why on earth would I post them and then flag all these people to read them? That isn’t even remotely logical.

Patent what I have said is "common experience" by the protestants on FR..not just the Calvinists..I have in my FR mail right now letters from 3 people I have never met that I got over the week end about the thread that was pulled..all of them have had the same opinion that I just expressed here...I never met these people ,they are not "friends", they are not Calvinists...they are just people that have run into the caucus buzz saw..

So yes the Rc's have a censorship reputation on FR. I am plain spoken Patent, and yes that can get me into trouble sometimes..but right now I am telling you what I have seen and heard..

I have nothing against you....or Brian...would I have written that mail..no ..mostly for the reasons I have already stated.

I think this whole event is not Godly...I would prefer a serious conversation on the doctrine on Eucharist from the various traditions.But intead we get spam posts of church faters that no one wil read and that stop the conversation...and if it should happen to go on..there is always changing the topic..like this..

Why don't you just post them as patent did with the_docs' e-mail. Then we'd all know who to avoid in the future or who to pray hardest for. As you once told me, show me and I'll believe you, now I'm challenging you.

I have to agree with you Mom. There have many threads that I was following where the RC doctrine was being discussed. Just as there were pointed questions and refutations of RC doctrine, the thread vanished. So, no, you are not living in the world of Art Bell and the tinfoil wearers.

I consider freep mail a private discussion tiki.

I think that freep mail is usually something that someone knows they can not say on a thread.I am a grown up..I expect my feeling to be hurt from time to time.We have an option..which I frequently have used..I often delete a mail without reading it if it has been sent in the middle of a heated thread..I do not need to know someones angry thoughts..:>)

One time I did post a freep mail that I considered hash at the time..I was new to FR...the man got banned..and I felt aweful..

I wanted him to stop not get banned..so I have decided never to do that again..

Nope, thanks anyway.. someone told me on the thread what it was..that thing has been around for years..just a piece of slander I agreed with it being pulled when I heard what it was...but that does not change my feelings on censorship in general...be safe

There are many, many Catholics here that have never hit abuse on any Christian related issues.
I myself would rather leave ugly posts where they are so everyone can see it.
I have only twice in my time here on FR pushed abuse. Once on an Israel thread where a poster used very foul language about Jews. The other was when a poster called for the nuclear bombing of NYC (which I am quite fond of by the way).
I think you have harped on this "Catholics getting special treatment" for too long now.
You insist that it's only Catholics pushing the abuse button, I don't believe it.
