You can deny it all day long, but Calvin is your Joseph Smith.

If I were as vicious and mean-spirited as doc, I would immediately seize upon your statement as proof that the Calvinists 'are lying down with the Mormons.'

Instead, I will simply say that you are entirely correct (as I have previously argued). While this in no way lessens the Mormon error (of purported 'subsequent revelation') it does display accurately the Calvinist error.

The ultimate proof of their 'elevation' of the Calvinist construct (they really only half-heartedly try to turn Calvin into a (non-biblical) 'saint' to protect the construct) is their willingness to twist Scripture to 'fit' the construct. One can only properly guide interpretation of an inferior document with a superior document, i.e. a constitution guides interpretation of a statute or a statute guides interpretation of an administrative regulation. But one could never properly reverse the priority, i.e. use a statute to guide the interpretation of a constitution or use an administrative regulation to guide the interpretation of a statute. In short, the inferior cannot control the superior.

Yet the Calvinists routinely -- indeed almost exclusively -- use their construct to 'guide' (read, control or force) the interpretation of Scripture. Bizarre exegesis of Calvin is employed because it protects the construct from inconsistency. This displays that, while they vociferously deny it, they have elevated the construct above Scripture.

At least the Mormons are honest about the fact that they use the Smith books to control interpretation of the Bible (to their great detriment, I must add).
