Our thread in search of a patron saint for Catholic FReepers was a marvelous revelation. We have such a rich heritage as Catholics, that the possibilities are limitless. Although it is strictly unofficial (and no one elected me Pope) I would like to declare that we do indeed have a patron saint:
Mary, Queen of All Saints

God speed Father. I will say a rosary for your request tonight.

This is especially important, I think, with Gregorian chant, the "emotion" of which must arise from the text, interpreted prayerfully by those who sing it. But that's getting off-topic ... When can we get off-topic in earnest where music's concerned?

I hope you'll read that again and think about it. Lol ...
Your friend,
(who gives in kind or in time what she's not got in alms
and finds God at the kitchen sink, while mopping the floor
or listening to beloved voices throughout the house ...
deep in conversation or amusing each other),
Mole.

When can we get off-topic in earnest where music's concerned? The possibilities are endless, but perhaps I could return to the focus of Father's original post, and offer this Marian Antiphon of Compline as a prayer for his protection:
Alma Redemptoris Mater,
quae pervia caeli porta manes,
et stella maris,
succurre cadenti,
surgere qui curat populo:
Tu quae genuisti,
natura mirante,
tuum sanctum Genitorem:
Virgo prius ac posterius,
Gabrielis ab ore
summens illud Ave,
peccatorum miserere.
God bless you, Father. "By His wounds, holy and glorious, may He guard and protect us, Christ the Lord. Amen."

Be safe. I will be praying for you and all the unfortunate people in Africa who are caught up in political strife.

Would any of the wonderful Catholic posters here be willing to tell me of one book (besides the obvious Bible, Catholic Catechism, etc.) that has helped them the most on their spiritual journey? How 'bout three books:
The Soul of the Apostolate by Jean-Baptiste Chautard
I Believe in Love by Jean du Coeur de Jesus D'Elbee
Abandonment to Divine Providence by Jean-Pierre de Causade

FYI, the annual
Gerard Manley Hopkins Conference this year was a wonderful success. It will hold another meeting in Rome later this year, and again in Denver next Spring.

I would say St. Augustine's Confessions. I don't leave home without it. : ^ )

Be safe Father. May the Holy Mother protect you and your companions and the Light of Christ guard and guide your path. Prayers will be said this evening.

His poems are on my desk at this moment.
Lovely the woods, waters, meadows, combes, vales,
All the air things wear that build this world of Wales;
Only the inmate does not correspond;
God, lover of souls, swaying considerate scales,
Complete thy creature dear O where it fails,
Being mighty a master, being a father and fond.
