You probably think 2 tim 3:16 is about sola scriptura as well. The text simply does not hold up to the claim made by Protestants about these texts. They really, really, really want it to, and they teach each other that it does.
But in the cold hard light of day, it does not.
"Eternal life" is an adjective and a noun. The adjective is "eternal" and it modifies the noun "life."
It is the life that is eternal, not our possession of it. IF the Protestant, OSAS view were true, the Bible would say "whoever believes on me will eternally have life."
But it doesn't. In this case "eternally" is an adverb, modifying the verb "have." That is what you guys all read here. But it is, sadly, mistaken.
You can have "eternal life" and then not have it. Just like you can have an "everlasting gobstopper" and then lose it. Adjective describe nouns, not verbs.
