I believe they were priests. But when they committed sin (abomination type of sin) they ceased to be. Do you think God looks upon him as one of His priests?

Absolutely. See my above post to Jim. We consider entering the priesthood just as seriously as you do your salvation. If Jesus can save a man no matter what sin he commits, then God can make a man a priest in a similar irrevocable way.

I see in scripture where God has done this for the tribe of Levi, but where in the NT does it say the office of a priest is irrevocable?
