We, really, don't. I have heard more confused Christology in the last few days than I ever have in my life. NCs who reject Mary go numerous ways offf into thoe wilderness of mistaking who Jesus is. And I consider that to be important.
If you imagine that Jesus no longer considers His mother to be someone special to Him, then you have a different idea of how "human" He was. This is not a trivial issue.
