How do you square this with the verse posted by malakhi above which shows Elias was assumed into heaven? You're pretending that is the end of the story - are you not. Did not Elias die. And this isn't a trick question. It is appointed unto men once to die and then the judgement. If Elias had died instead of being spirited to heaven, he would not have been able to return. God works within his laws - not in contravention of them.
