"First I get compared to an atheist and now you are implying I'm pro-abortion? All because I asked theantilib if he owned a Bible?

I'm sorry. Really. I didn't mean to imply you were pro-abortion. Indeed, I've read enough of your posts to suspect you are a good, Bible-believing, God-fearing Christian and, thus, must assuredly pro-life. Frankly, that's why I answered your question the way I did. You see, there are, roughly, two possible answers to your question about whether or not abortions are as prevelant in Mexico as they are in the U.S. The first is that they are, even though its illegal. This is PP's line and I knew deep down you wouldn't buy it. The second is that they aren't. Which brings us back to my original question about Bible-ownership and abortion rates.

Frankly, what I was trying to get at was the point that owning a Bible wasn't enough to insure one's relationship with the Lord. Indeed, I would argue its not even necessary. But I would say it is a very good idea.

What is necessary, I believe, is that one have the desire to know Jesus. Without that, all the Bibles in the world won't do you any good.

Exactly where does that desire come from? I don't know. Certainly, since all good things come from God, in the first instance, then, this desire must come from God. But after that, I don't know. Indeed, to pose the question invites one of those Calvinist-Arminian debates in which I always find myself agreeing with both sides. -)

One thing we can agree on, though, is that that desire is a beautiful gift. -)
