The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

There is only one Mary, but Catholics, like I pray to her so that she will pray for us and the sins of the world to the Lord our God. Although I believe in the latter, tempoary virgin or ever virgin, she is available for strong prayers.

You ask other people to pray for you, right?

Right. We ask living people to pray FOR us, we do not pray TO them to pray for us, we do not pray TO dead people to pray for us.

What is your definition of prayer?

My definition is dialogue between God and people, especially His people.

Talking to dead people is necromancy which the bible forbids.

I simply call it the Holy Spirit, but that is only as strong in us as we make it to be.

The HS is only as strong as we allow Him to be. We cannot make Him do anything. That is what surrendering our lives to Christ means.

Every person will be judged. Our God is a merciful God, but an incredibly just God at the same time; as indicated numerous times in the Bible.

It's far from necromancy. Praying to peole in heaven (saints) who have great spiritual grace to help pray for us is simply smart.

Something as sacred as religion does not become successful by chance, but only through divine favor.

But praying in the bible is talking to God, not saints.

What is your definition of Prayer?

Sigh. If some of you don't recognize this holiday, that is ok, but how about giving us that do a break. Do yall think something good can come of something bad? Maybe the name needs to change (any of you that celebrate easter have any ideas?) but to tell the story of the resurrection, feast and have fun playing a game of finding eggs while keeping your thoughts on the Son doesn't seem pagen to me. I do draw the line at pretending there is an easter bunny though caz I think children should be told the truth.

Think of it as us performing our duty to preach the gospel CD. Perhaps the information put out is for you, perhaps it isn't...but it still is preached.

From Would Jesus Keep Easter?

"If Jesus walked the dusty roads of Galilee today, would He keep Easter? Certainly not. But He would be consistent because He does not change (Hebrews 13:8). For instance, He would keep the annual Passover in the same manner as He instructed His followers to keep it (1 Corinthians 11:23-26; John 13:15-17). And Jesus would observe the Days of Unleavened Bread in the way He inspired Paul to instruct early Christians (1 Corinthians 5:6-8)."

But in this world Satan has a great deal of success also. What better way for him to have success then thru religion. And I am not just pointing a finger at the catholics either. An organization of men is going to always be susecptible to his craftiness. That is why the bible tells us to beware of false prophets.

But John says, or implies, that that there was no one to take care of her.

I really don't know. We just found a bowl of them when we went to breakfast at the hotel. Took the waiter's word for it.

The Catholic Church proclaims Christianity, if it is Satan's work, he is doing a pretty bad job.

There was no heaven until Christ died. So there could be no saints.

Yoor lecture faild to take into account a couple of points, one being that "John" was not necessarily the apostle, and two, family relationships were strong, and so why would sons abandon their mother--unless the woman wasn't their REAL mother?

Surely you jest but I'll humor you.

Are you aware of any source, other than yourself, which makes the claim John was not the disciple described as "the one Jesus loved"?

Consider the introduction to John from Douay-Rheims:

Introduction to The Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ According to Saint John

St. John the Apostle and Evangelist was the son of Zebedee and Salome, brother to James the Greater. He was called the Beloved disciple of Christ and stood by at his Crucifixion. . . . .

Considering that John was the only Apostle present at the crucifiction and His brothers were not there did not honor Him, and were not believers, who else but John?

What's the point? The Muslim religion beats Christianity, The numbers change from time to time.

The point was, you made another false claim. That is, assuming you know what "surpassed" means.

"It is pretty sad that fear of God and prayers to Him and the saints (INCLUDING MARY) have sustained the Catholic Church for 2,000 years and has not been surpassed in population since."

Like I said, if your Bible was translated from a Latin or Greek Bible, than the translation would be slightly differnt than if the Bible was translated from Aramaic.

What kind of fantasy world are you living in? There is no Aramaic Bible. How in the world can you claim something from nothing?

So God says that Mary was a sinner? She was assumed into heaven body and soul.

Scripture? Proof?
