The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

...and are more then willing to let God have credit for everything they become.

I thought Becky said that we had survived the Calvinist assault? ;^)

I hope the others will take this as a "tongue in cheek” post, it wasn't meant to be critical, it's just as I see it with humor.

I forgot to laugh. Couldn't be that God instructed us to obey Sabbath, or told us how to eat, etc. In your mind it has to be that we're trying to earn our way to heaven. That's real humerous.

Alow me a moment of humor. You don't obey certain commandments therefore you have a need to belittle those of us who do.

And the thing just might be that we hope God has mercy on these others, even if they are "wrong." As much as I'd wish the same on myself if I am wrong.

This was a good observation too...I'm confident though that a loving God will give all of us a fair and equal chance at knowing and learning the truth.

I still believe that we who God has forgiven the most, are more apt to believe in “Eternal Security” then those who have been forgiven little. They see their few sin’s, as ones that with just a little more work, and they’ll be perfect on their own. On the other hand, those who have been forgiven much, know they could never come close to perfection, and are more then willing to let God have credit for everything they become.

That's not a half-bad insight, Jim.

(I bet you didn't expect that. LOL)

I would only comment that the divide may also have much to do with those who had an epiphany that God is forgiving of anything, versus those who always had that understanding.

Oh yeah, how come?

I'm not making the kind of money I used to. (economy since 9/11) And so since I make half the money, I'm looking for half the bills. :-)

This 4,000 foot square home is alot of upkeep and alot of Public Service bill. Plus 2 of my kids have moved out, getting married, going to college and This house is too big for one kid.

Freeping don't pay much. :)

Go for a condo man, if I had it to do over thats what I'd do, let someone else take care of it for ya, as far as the neighbors go, just hand them a track and wittness to them, they will leave ya alone. :)

Man. I really wanted a condo. My wife wants no part of that however. But that's ok, it was tough for her to come around to my point of view that we should move. So I'm not going to push it. :-)

Bah humbug! You can't pee off the porch of your condo, and someone might call the cops if you start shooting off fireworks on the 4th.

I see I'm going to have to walk you thru this. :)

While you're selling the house, go by yourself and find some really nice condos, (flowers for no reason one day will help before you do this:) and then one day take the ball and chain out to lunch and just stop by and have a look, get the feel and new smell up her nose, get all your ducks lined up, price, comfort, security, almost no maintence, freedom to go and do what you want because you don't have to take care of all that stuff anymore, more dates you can take her on, more vacations, just free and easy living, happly ever after.

That those who believe it’s necessary to keep the Sabbath and the Levitical food laws, and Jewish holy days, are trying to pay God back in some way because they can’t believe that God would give them such a free gift, and not want them to do some work of the law to repay Him.

Besides they're sabbaths and feast days of the Lord. And we shouldn't keep them because we want anything, or expect anything. We keep them because Christ indwells in us and Christ certainly honors the days he himself sanctified.

Now how would it sound if I said that you keep the Catholic Day of the Lord and the Catholic holy days? :-)

I'm with Dave. There's a lot to be said for being able to pee off your porch (or deck in my case).

You also don't have people hanging around all over the place. Privacy in your own homw, without sharing walls is great.

Ya but I just turned 50. 5 years away from a senior citizen discount at Furrs Cafeteria. I'm tired of mowing the law and trimming trees and filling the pond and fixing the hot tub.

What...didn't the AARP get ahold of you yet? Furrs gives a discount to members, you can be a member at 50, times a wasting old man. :)
