The Rockies are 4-2 coming off a 3 game sweep of the diamondbacks. (johnson and schilling even pitched) What's going on? :-)

Then the Law is not given by God? It is something that, over time, was developed as people grew in understanding of "the divine"?

Again, this is one viewpoint, and not an orthodox one. From this perspective, there are two different ways of looking at the Law. One is that it was divinely inspired, not divinely dictated. The second, which you are more likely to find in Reform and Reconstructionist Judaism, is that the Law was written by man, based upon the understanding of the divine he had at that time. The body of interpretation then would reflect the gradual evolution of this understanding.

<"Not my will, but thine, be done".

Well, you're already quoting Him. That should make things easier. ;o)

Without getting into your sexual preferences let me just say that we're having beautiful springtime weather. :-)

LOL!

Speaking of weather, we took a pounding this weekend. Hail stones the size of golf balls fell on my house (up to softball size was reported in the area). The next day as I was cleaning up the mess and assessing the damage, another storm came through dropping more hail on us. Not as big as the night before, but still enough to do some damage. And I just had the roof replaced last year! :o(

Nah, to those who are not used to as much denominational brainwashing it tends to make much sense.
Objective points of view allow people to see the consistancy of truth.

Besides, I carry a 9mm!

God Bless,
Nate

Do you have to replace the roof again?

I guess the question is "what is your viewpoint?"

Friday night we had some bad thunderstorms and very heavy rain. Some type of "microburst" knocked the roof off of a car wash right up the street from my office. Strange for April.

That is the orthodox conception. But one can read the history of Israel in more than one way. From one perspective as the gradual revelation of the divine. From the other perspective as the gradual growth in understanding of the divine. The second view does not depend upon the literal truth of miracle accounts.

So ... does the God you believe in perform miracles ?

Let me just ask you if you believe Yeshua was the "true prophet" Moses spoke about?

I don't read that passage as referring to one single prophet, because God raised up many true prophets after Moses. Based upon what I believe about Jesus, I think that he was a true prophet. If I based my opinion strictly on the gospel accounts, however, my answer would be no. In my opinion, certain aspects of these accounts reflect an understanding of Jesus -- one colored by Pauline theology -- that emerged in the decades after his death, rather than Jesus as he truly spoke and taught before his death. If you look past the theological accretions to the original layer of material, then yes.

It's not a money issue. My husband already contributes. He just doesn't always know how much :'). You left out fishng . I've heard them all. lol. Going to church doesn't save you and I agree that even though the Bible only says two or more gathered in his name, I think family attendance of church important. My husband and I used to fight about this all the time. I was making his life miserable. One day he told me how bad he dreaded Sunday mornings. I felt I should back off. Now, I occasionally ask him to go with me but I try not to push.

Well that was nice, but are you gonna ask Him?

That is what I was indicating. If it is God's will and desire that I have faith in Jesus, then I pray that He gives me that faith, my own stubborn will notwithstanding!

I guess the question is "what is your viewpoint?"

I come down on "divinely inspired" rather than "divinely dictated". As far as the miracle accounts, I first and foremost read them literally, but I am also aware of the more figurative/mystical interpretations of the same passages. I think it is a "both/and" rather than an "either/or".

We are expecting another 2-5 inches of snow starting sometime today through tonight. I'm hoping it goes to the south of us; we still have a few inches on the ground from last week's snowfall. :o(
