Those of you who have watched this spectacle should be forewarned should you ever think of posting among the aggressive Calvinists at FR. You may think your beliefs are more conventional and thus you will be more immune to their criticism, but let me assure you, you will be treated worse than I have been tonight.

So long as you disagree with these guys the least little bit, they will cultivate a false sense of superiority regarding themselves and a false sense of inferiority on your part.

They will try to get you to lose your temper, and then immediately attribute it to your depravity and inferiority, to hatred of the truth and hatred of God.

They will tell you that your conversion to Christ (they won't bother with you much unless you are already a faithful Christian) is almost surely spurious, that you are very likely going to hell forever because you don't believe the right thing.

But, should you decide to agree with their very negative notions of the nature of God and man, they will call you a true Christian, and consider you saved, and claim that God has just regenerated you, and guaranteed you a place in heaven -- that is, until your next disagreement with them. If they can't get you back in line, they will consider you never saved in the first place, and once again headed for hell.

Don't believe it? I've seen it happen, right here at FR, and I have made up my mind to do what I can to see that it does not happen again.

What can be done?
What do you suggest?

I vote NO, however, a simple change will also change my vote. Under other Christian you've grouped Church of God and Messianic with LDS. I'm a Methodist, but there's no way that Churhes of God should be anyplace other than "Charismatic."

Messianic should be "evangelical." As should most independent churches and Churches of Christ.

"Other christian" - should be LDS, 7 Day Advent, Jehovah's Witness....basically, sectarian movements as distinguished from classical Christianity.

This is trashing ..and against FR regs...This discussion has been on doctrine...I can not help if you are ashamed of your doctrine or want to keep it hidden ...the discussion is who is a christian..looking at the doctrine is the only way to tell....

We are Saints, and we are Christians, regardless of what others call us.

And the true saints of God will draw a spiritual line in the sand. Will the mormons cross it...

Come and join us and bow down in worship before the Ancient of Days. Let us confess Him Almighty God.
Will the mormons cross the line. Of course not for they know that if they do that they out themselves as absolutely not Christian for worshipping what Latter Day Revelation calls Adam and no true saint of God would ever worship Adam. And yet, by not crossing the line, the declare that they do not worship the same God as Christians who even now bow down before the Ancient of Days. We are Christians and you are Mormons. You are free to call yourselves Christians, of course, but we are not obligated to do anything other than point out to you that you have not crossed the line to join us.

There are many lines the saints could draw, but we need only one.

Check mate!

To: RnMomof7 Your #133: I am shocked ... shocked ... that you Calvinists are once again trying to hijack a thread for your own purposes. We have gone over this stuff many times before -- and surely will do so again -- but not here. I will respond on the current Calvinist endless-discussion thread, and leave this one for the voting on angelo's list of topics for the new Religion Forum. All your efforts to prove me wrong -- or whatever you all are trying to do -- have failed, and will fail. All you succeed in doing is giving everyone else a very unfavorable impression of yourselves. You don't like it? Read the paragraph above. 137 posted on 3/27/02 11:58 PM Pacific by White Mountain

Scuse me... "Hijack the thread", you say?

(sigh)... How strange must the world look to you, through your hate-drunken eyes. It is you who hijacked the thread for your own sectarian purposes, White Mountain -- the bashing of Calvinists in your #107, and thereafter. Calvinists have only responded to your bitterness-drenched slanders; we have reacted against your scurrilous attempts to hijack the thread for the purpose of bashing Calvinists, but are innocent of the charge you press, while you are guilty thereof.

After I dred to suggest that the term "Christian" might in fact admit of some definiteness, and that claiming that one's sect is "Christian" is not automatically sufficient to warrent the label, you offered this:

Do you Calvinists realize that you are the only ones posting in this negative way? You are showing everyone your true colors!

Guys like you really crack me up.

Okay, okay; I give up. I can't take the pressure anymore. Everyone is what he says he is, and facts and rationality be damned!

And now, in that new spirit, here is my next statement:

I am a young man in my twenties, trim, fit, handsome, a full head of hair, omni-competent, and with a future wide-open, bright, and full of promise!

Hey, this is great. I should have done this sooner. Oh, one more:

America holds true to the Constitution and the values of the Framers, and Clinton was never President.

Thanks for setting me FREE!!!

Dan

I'm glad that I still have my full head of hair (you can ask the_doc, he has seen me in person!), but that's about the only part of your statement that I could claim as truth.

As for the rest, don't you think that you sell yourself short?

Ad-Hoc Religion Forum Committee Discussion - Thread 3

angelo: What I would like to do is to have all interested parties vote a straight up or down on the topics as they stand. If over half of the voters oppose the present list, then we'll reopen it for further changes. If the majority is in favor of the present list, then this is what we'll go with. Keep in mind that additions to the list are always possible down the road.

Mom: This is trashing ..and against FR regs...This discussion has been on doctrine...I can not help if you are ashamed of your doctrine or want to keep it hidden ...the discussion is who is a christian..looking at the doctrine is the only way to tell....

No HIGHJACKING going on here, nothing to see here folks, move along, move along. :)

I like your home page.

Other Christian?
Lump 7th Day Adventists with damnable heresies?
Your suggesstion, if followed, would lead to endless disputes.
But then, that's what goes on in a lively forum, eh?

Some things are worthy of a serious consideration...scripture warns us that the day will come when Good is called evil and evil good..I do not wish to face God and have Him tell me I failed to stand firm for His names sake..Once you broaden the traditional meaning of what it is to be a Christian you open the doors..Islam believe in and have a special honor for Mary and Jesus ..should we put them with the Catholics?

I believe the "religion " catagory should be ..Catholic...Protestant...Jewish and other...with the name of the faith typed in on the keyword..

BTW Angelo assured me that even with all these catagories that there would be no "HIGHJACKING " ,accusations if the topic was relativally related..you have just proved him wrong and me right. I vote for fewer catagories and fewer crybabies

Awww Mom I have just been pulling your leg, and ya have to go and shame me and call me a crybaby, just like a MOM.
